Streets: Rustam Qbic (Ravenna)

Moving a lot around Europe lately, Rustam Qbic recently visited the Italian city of Ravenna where he painted his contribution to the Subsidenze Street Art Festival. Working three long days in the warm Italian sun, the Kazan artist quickly finished this new piece titled Immigration. Measuring 15m x 5m, this wall is a nice example of the symbolic surrealistic images that Qbic has been painting around the globe. Matching his color palette with the tones of the surrounding buildings, this dreamy mural beautifully blends with its surrounding. Depicting a […]

Streets: Cinta Vidal x Uriginal (Barcelona)

After seeing her wall mural painted for Guzzo Club in Barcelona, we have wondered how Cinta Vidal’s work would translate to the streets. With her recent series of experimental pieces with her friend Uriginal on the streets of her hometown, fans of her work now have an idea. The collaboration blends in nicely Vidal’s law of physics defying architectural imagery with Uriginal’s portraiture. Also, for those in the SoCal, Vidal will be painting a wall for the upcoming Vitality & Verve: In the Third Dimension show at the Long […]

Releases: Liu Bolin – “Hidden in the City: the Louvre Pyramid (with JR)” Print

In May, we shared with you the amazing takeover by JR (interviewed) at the famous Louvre in Paris where he pasted over the iconic pyramid using photographs of the surrounding structures. Looking at the right angle, it appeared that the pyramid in the main courtyard “disappears” from sight. Who better to collaborate with next in an inception-like project than with China’s disappearing man – Liu Bolin? With both the French and Chinese artist painted over, the two friends (see 2012 collaboration) blended in with the already camoflauged pyramid behind them. This intriguing […]

Streets: Barbara Kruger // High Line (New York)

Joining the plethora of artists that have had art visible from the High Line in New York, Barbara Kruger unveiled a mural she designed earlier this year (and on view through March 2017). This latest work from the American artist famous for her text-based creations is entitled Untitled (Blind Idealism Is…) and features an “adaptation of a quote from Afro-Caribbean philosopher and revolutionary thinker Frantz Fanon, which has appeared in multiple works by the artist.” The words read BLIND IDEALISM IS REACTIONARY SCARY DEADLY (with the words REACTIONARY & […]

Streets: Shepard Fairey (Paris)

Building on the themes he first unveiled with an installation on the first and second floor of the Eiffel Tower back in November, Shepard Fairey (featured) opened a new solo last night at Galerie Itinerrance entitled Earth Crisis (more on this later). This imagery was further extended with a new mural last week in Paris (60 rue Jeanne-d’Arc, 75013) utilizing the same turquoise and blue that the American artist is utilizing for his new exhibition to remind us to take care of our air, water, and vegetation as well as to preserve […]
