Streets: DALeast (Spain)

On his recent travels around the world, Chinese born artist DALeast (interviewed) stopped recently in Malaga, Spain, to leave his mark for the Malaga Maus project. Always up for pushing his work and technique, the artist decided not to place his mural on a flat wall, but used the architectural challenges of the place. The result is a magnificent mural titled Abiding in The Broken Heart which is showing a giant black bird with lots of smaller birds flying out of it. With his unmistakable line work, […]

Streets: Faith47 for Avant Garde Urbano (Spain)

Faith47 recently dropped one of her most iconic murals to date in the quaint town of Tudela De Navarra at the fourth annual Avant Garde Urbano Festival (also see our coverage of Vhils’ piece). In an area of Spain that is heavily influenced by Catholicism, she appropriately integrated a piece depicting a strong likeness to the Virgin Mary entitled saturation.incubation.illumination. Other mural works coming up include efforts from Ron English and Dal East. In addition, there is a museum exhibition running through the 27th of October featuring works by C215, Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada, Ripo, Sixeart, SUSO33, Evan Roth, Filippo […]

Streets: Banksy – “Better Out Than In” (New York) – Day 8 & 9

After a great first week in New York City where Banksy hit seven different locations over seven days (covered here), he starts off the week on Monday with a philosphical reference piece (Day 8). Then yesterday, we woke to find that the elusive Bristol-based artist had brought out the big guns – literally. For Day 9 of Better Out Than In, Mr. B gets a little more clever with an installation inside an empty lot in the Lower East Side near the corner of Ludlow & Stanton. Banksy sets […]

Streets: Cyrcle. x Woodkid (Los Angeles)

The always productive Cyrcle. crew has blessed Los Angeles with another epic mural. This time, on a wall provided by Branded Arts, the boys collaborated with Woodkid on a piece that is located on the hotbed art gallery Hollywood intersection of Santa Monica Blvd and Highland. Although it features the visual artists working with a musician, rather than being a marketing piece for a new album release or a advertisement, the work explores the aesthetic and concept of his music. It rewards followers and fans […]

Streets: Banksy – “Better Out Than In” (New York) – Day 5, 6, 7

After releasing a provocative video (seen directly below) for day #6 and a mobile waterfall truck for his day #5 of his Better Out Than In project in NYC, Banksy is continuing this event with a new street piece. For day #7 of his NYC residency, Mr. B revealed a fresh piece showing his infamous balloon heart. The image of the girl with a balloon heart flying away from her is one of his strongest, and most recognizable pieces, and it is obviously a special one for […]

Streets: JR (London)

As we mentioned last month, JR (interviewed) is returning to London after five years with a two-part solo exhibition, ACTIONS, at Lazarides Rathbone and multiple sites across the capital. The Inside / Out photobooth truck showed up last week and Londoners’ black and white portraits were pasted alongside the Somerset House. Head over yourself between 1pm and 7pm to participate until October 11th. Photo credit: Butterfly. Discuss JR here.

Streets: Vhils for Avant Garde Urbano (Spain)

Alexandre Farto, aka Vhils spent some time this week chipping out his latest mural in the remote Tudela De Navarra, Spain for Avant Garde Urbano which began September 30th and closes October 27th. What started out as a gathering of like minded street artists has quickly grown into an international artist pilgrimage in this quaint municipality. The 4th annual street art festival features four + large scale murals by Dal EAST, Faith47, Ron English, and others. The exhibition that runs through October 27th will also […]

Streets: Banksy – “Better Out Than In” (New York) – Day 4

It is his fourth day of his street residency in New York, and for today the ever elusive Banksy created an ongoing series of works titled Random graffiti given a Broadway makeover. Known for simple, witty ideas, this concept is a perfect example of the street artist’s creative thinking. By adding a flashy “The Musical” under random graffiti around the city, addressing either economic, political, neighborhood or completely private issues, the artist is commenting on the superficial way our society tends to look at these or other issues. This concept […]

Streets: Banksy – “Better Out Than In” (New York) – Day 3

For his third act in his ongoing street residency in New York, the UK-based Banksy created a new stenciled piece near 24th & 6th street. The image of a dog and fire hydrant’s relationship demonstrated Mr. B’s humor to his fans in the Big Apple once again. To hear the audio commentary that goes along with the piece, call 1.800.656.4271 and choose #2. Check back tomorrow as it looks like there will be a new piece revealed every day. Discuss Banksy here.

Streets: Os Gemeos x Mark Bode (San Francisco)

After Os Gemeos stopped by Los Angeles to promote their collaboration with Hennessy on a new bottle design, they headed up north to paint some public art in the Bay Area. One of the murals they got up was a joint effort with the San Fran-based Mark Bode. Featuring one of the twins signature yellow-skinned character riding Bode’s father’s Cheech Wizard, the piece can be seen on the back of the Warfield Theatre near 6th and Market Street. Check out some more progress shots below… Photo credit: Joe […]
