On March 27th (private view on the 26th), Lazarides Rathbone will be opening a new solo from the Lisbon-based Vhils (filmed), his first there since 2012. Previews: Erik Jones – “Color|Full” @ Thinkspace

On March 28th, Thinkspace will be hosting a new solo from painter Erik Jones entitled Color | Full. As evidenced by his previous works, the NYC-based artist likes to combine his portraiture with graphic patterning, color blocking, and linear elements but this latest showing will take things a bit further. Along with some paintings created in the classic Jones style, there are also more exploratory pieces where he has delineated different planes in his imagery by bringing a sculptural aspect or dimensionality to his work.

Pixel Pancho just launched his first solo exhibition in London at StolenSpace entitled Memory of Life. The Italian artist has transformed the gallery space with installations featuring surreal robotic characters using pieces of furniture & musical boxes while also created some sculptures with moving mechanisms, including Michelone, an edition of 10 handmade and articulated robots. Tonight in Istanbul, Robert Montgomery will be opening his first solo show in Turkey at the cultural hub situated in Galatasaray and Karaköy – ISTANBUL’74. Later tonight (March 19th), Pedro Matos will be opening a self-titled solo in Miguel Justino Contemporary Art’s project room in Lisbon. Continuing his foray into abstraction, the new works are influenced by the urban landscape – the “ephemeral and decaying, the withered and downtrodden” – something that has been consistently an influence for the Portuguese artist since his early beginnings on the streets.
