Previews: Above – “Remix” @ Inner State Gallery

One of the legends of the early street art movement, Above (interviewed), is currently in Detroit, almost at the end of his two months residency with Inner State Gallery. The photos we just received show some game changing new works he’s been creating for his solo show Remix, opening on the 21st of November in the Motor City. Due to his strong engagement with street work and busy travel schedule, this will be his first US solo show in the last five years. After 15+ years of creating public art in 100+ cities and 60+ […]

Freshly opened Richard & Le Feuvre Gallery in Geneve, Switzerland, introduced their work to the local art lovers with an inaugural group show titled Paper Party 2. Combining works by eleven artists from five different countries, this large show featured about 50 original works on paper that will stay on view until the end of the year. Previews: Marco Mazzoni – “Immune” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Marco Mazzoni will be opening his first solo exhibition with Thinkspace gallery on Saturday, November 8th. Titled Immune, this show will introduce pencil on paper works that are strongly inspired by Sardinian myths and tradition, and in this particular case, by a human’s endurance of pain. Working with a medium that is often considered unsophisticated, Mazzoni creates soft, dreamy images, putting great attention to details, and achieving fantastic gradation and light effect. Along with larger faceless portraits of female herbalists and healers from 16th century, the Italian artist […]

Upcoming: Kris Kuksi – “Antiquity in the Faux” @ Mark Moore Gallery

Coming up on November 15th, Mark Moore Gallery in Los Angeles will be opening their second showing (see 2012) with Kris Kuksi and his insane mixed-media assemblage works. Antiquity in the Faux will once again give his fans in SoCal the chance to admire his beautifully grotesque compositions that take a variety of disparate items – figurines, model parts, collectibles, craft parts, and jewelry – and arranges them in a way to tell a intricate story. Oftentimes these narratives involve struggle, conflict, faith, sexuality, and power surrounding a central figure and spreading to […]

Discuss Tiffany Bozic here.

Openings: Roa – “Suovetaurilia” @ Dorothy Circus Gallery

After several months of traveling and creating murals, ROA opened a new solo with Dorothy Circus Gallery on October 31st, introducing some fresh indoor works. Titled Suovetaurilia, the show is dedicated to Rome and its audience, as it refers to the ancient ritual animal sacrifice of a pig (sus), a sheep (ovis) and a bull (tauris) common at one time in the area. With this exhibition, the prolific Belgian artist is connecting the Rome in the distant past, where thousands of exotic animals were killed for people’s entertainment, with the contemporary […]
