This year, participants include Joe Coleman, Mark Ryden, Lola Gil, Cathie Black, Joe Sorren (seen above), Peter Ferguson, Seamus Conley, Tara McPherson, Jana Brike, Erik Mark Sandberg, Chet Zar, Travis Lampe, Bill Mayer, Owen Smith, Marc Burckhardt, […]

Openings: Michael De Feo – “A Pocket Full Of Posies” @ Rush Arts Gallery

Last week, Rush Arts Gallery welcomed in a set of new paintings from Michael De Feo, his first solo in New York in more than 10 years. A Pocket Full of Posies from the man famously known for his iconic flower motif, oftentimes painted illegally on the streets, is somewhat of a departure artistically for him but makes sense as he explores his chosen subject in a more painterly fashion. Take a look at more photos from the opening below and head over to the […]

Streets: Saber x Vans the Omega (Istanbul)

After sharing photos with you from Turkey just at the end of last month from the Pera Museum, we bring you back to Istanbul for another event that you may be interested in. The Meeting of Allstars aims to get together world famous graffiti artists and local writers to paint together and celebrate the art of urban calligraphy. One of the standout walls will surely be this collaboration between the Los Angeles-based SABER (interviewed) and Australia’s Vans the Omega. Head over to the event’s website for more […]

Openings: Shepard Fairey x Hennessy – VS Cognac Bottle Launch (NYC)

Last week, we shared some photos with our readers of Shepard Fairey’s (featured) new mural in NYC for the L.I.S.A. Project. During his time in New York, he also hosted the official NYC launch of his signature design for this year’s Hennessy V.S Limited Edition artist bottle at ARENA. While there, Fairey was happy to share a drink with the Big Apple and drop some hotness as he spun a set along with DJ Mick. Take a look at more photos from the event below… Discuss Shepard […]

Previews: David Choong Lee – “Cosmic Dust” @ Luna Rienne Gallery

On September 16th, the Luna Rienne Gallery in San Francisco will play host to the opening for Cosmic Dust, a solo from David Choong Lee. The new body of work will be somewhat of a departure for the locally based artist as he moves away from including portraiture in his imagery. The wholly abstract paintings will feature patterns and organic components that seem to reference alien worlds. No word yet whether there will be installations like the amazing two-story assemblages he created for the Grand Hyatt SF in Union […]

Previews: Dave Kinsey – “Cushion of Memory” @ Library Street Collective

Continuing to bring great art to Detroit, the Library Street Collective will be welcoming in Dave Kinsey (featured) for a showing opening on September 27th entitled Cushion of Memory. His work has become more abstract of late and certainly, the influences of living near the Sequoia National Park can be seen more and more from the wider vantage point and landscape views of his composition. Pulling textures, tones, and patterns from the surrounding environment (trees, plants, rocks, the sky), Kinsey’s imagery in this new body […]

Showing: Artmossphere, Street Art Biennale (Moscow)

On 6th of September, the Artplay Design Center in Moscow was the host to the opening of the Artmossphere Street Art Biennale. This is the first event like this in Russia, and it brings together over 30 artists from all over the world and over 40 Russian artists (like Kislow – seen above). Consisting of shows, lectures, workshops and round table talks, the participants are artists, organizers of street art events and gallery curators. The exhibition includes an indoor portion, presenting work and installations by participating artists, as well as […]

Previews: Kelly Vivanco – “Peculiar Tides” @ Thinkspace Gallery

On September 13th, Thinkspace Gallery will be presenting new works from Kelly Vivanco in an exhibition entitled Peculiar Tides. As the title indicates, the Southern California-based painter will be taking her cast of characters and creature companions to new seaside and underwater locales. Vivanco will be at the opening if you want to meet her and  learn more about her whimsical narrative and fairy-tale like worlds. Discuss Kelly Vivanco here.

Studio Visits: Casey Gray – ‘Of Land & Sea’ @ Circuit 12 Contemporary

We’ve been enthusiastically watching the work of Casey Gray over a number of years, since we first came across his work back in 2009 during Basel Week in Miami. To say his work has progressed since his early stencil compositions is an understatement. Using aerosol paint as his one and only medium, Gray has shifted from the multicoloured stencil explosions we first saw from him through to a level of maturity we’ve not seen elsewhere from a stencil artist. Recent beach portraits and landscapes along with […]

Upcoming: Adam Neate – “Dimensionalism” @ Elms Lester

Today in London, the public opening of Adam Neate’s (interviewed) newest solo at Elms Lester will allow fans of the UK-based artist to see the further evolution of his “dimensional” style. His first selling solo in the England since 2012 (covered) will hopefully include more iterations of his head shot portraits as well as development of his textured and almost sculptural full scale works. Dimensionalism will be on view through October 18th so head over for a look yourself if you are in the area. Discuss Adam Neate […]
