On August 7th, Flatcolor Gallery will open A Second, Christopher Derek Bruno’s (interviewed) return to the Seattle showspace with a solo exhibition of new works. Through this show, CDB will be exploring and studying color, shape, and form, “to better understand both the dimensional and rational means.” After his education in industrial design, Bruno’s interest was to direct his energies to creating sculpture-based imagery. For those in Chicago to enjoy Lollapalooza and The Provocateurs opening tonight, make sure you also find time this weekend to take a look at the street art associated with the group exhibition. We already touched on the curator of the show Shepard Fairey and his new mural at Columbia College, but another artist’s work to check out is Los Angeles-based writer RETNA’s (featured) piece at 33 E. On August 2nd, the Marcas Gallery in Orange County will be opening Perverse Foil, a collaborative exhibition between painter Dan Quintana and photographer Karen Hsiao.
