His work shows excellent craftsmanship skills, as well as a strong knowledge and interest in dimension and perspective play. With this new body of work, the Atlanta-based artist […]

We already touched on the curator of the show Shepard Fairey and his new mural at Columbia College, but another artist’s work to check out is Los Angeles-based writer RETNA’s (featured) piece at 33 E. Previews: ‘Rewire’ @ Gamma Transport Division (Edinburgh)

Art and music have long enjoyed a reciprocal relationship. Take the album cover for example. For years, musicians have found or commissioned visual artists to portray an aesthetic that resonates with the contents of the sleeve resulting in a complete aural and visual package. Gamma Proforma’s forthcoming exhibition and project Rewire flip reverses this process with a collection of artworks produced by visual artists forming the inspiration for a series of sonic interpretations of the artworks by musicians. A perfect fit for Gamma Proforma who […]

Upcoming: Esao Andrews – “Epilogues” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

On October 11, Esao Andrews will be opening his second solo show (see 2010) with Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York entitled Epilogues. The new body of work or work “explores allegorical scenes of homecomings, focusing on a journey’s end” and will feature conclusions to some of the narrative threads the Los Angeles-based artist has explored in the past with his dream-like paintings. Attendees of the exhibition will be impressed, like us, with his surreal artistic vision, often times dark and beautiful at the same […]
