Previews: Marco Mazzoni – “Naturama” @ Roq La Rue

On November 7th, Marco Mazzoni is presenting his newest body of work alongside Lindsey Carr at the Roq La Rue gallery in Seattle. Michael Johansson – “Shades and Variables” @ Galleri Andersson/Sandström (Stockholm)

A couple month ago, the Stockholm location of Galleri Andersson/Sandström hosted new work from Swedish artist Michael Johansson (featured). Continuing his recent spate of showings in Europe, Shades and Variables featured works that he has become known form. Color coded Tetris-like cubes constructed perfectly from everyday items, an installation wall of tightly fitted components, and his play on toy kits filled the space. On November 17th, the Metro Gallery in Melbourne will be hosting a new show from Michael Peck entitled Love & Fear. The fresh batch of paintings were developed during a three-month residency at Birrarung House where he was inspired by the desolate surroundings. NYC based contemporary artist, Daniel Arsham is currently touring the globe, showing his unique artworks and concepts in some of the biggest and most influential capitals. Openings: Billy Norrby – “The Stone Like” @ CHG Circa

On the same night as Ron English’s solo at Corey Helford, their sister gallery several doors down, CHG Circa also hosted an opening reception. The Stone Like featured the paintings of Billy Norrby, rendered in a style reminiscent of the master works from the Romanticism movement. Openings: Ron English – “Popogandastan” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Last Saturday night, fans of Ron English (featured) packed the opening of his newest show at Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City, eager to see a new body of work that has been two years in the making. Popogandastan featured pieces that explored the gifted painter’s incredibly detailed world, filled with his surreal cast of characters and lush backgrounds. The first weekend on November, Spoke Art in San Francisco will be presenting their annual art exhibit dedicated to the films of Wes Anderson. Tomorrow night (October 29), the French street bomber known as Invader & Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be premiering a special screening of ART4SPACE (covered) for fans in New York City.
