Previews: Seth Armstrong – “Lovin’ Thy Neighbor” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Tomorrow night (October 5th), the Thinkspace Gallery will be hosting new works from Seth Armstrong in their project room. The concept behind this body of work is an interesting one – each of the smaller works below is a blowup of the smaller scenes seen in the big painting above. Lovin’ Thy Neighbor highlights the cinematic and theatrical feel to Armstrong’s paintings as what is going on behind the windows of the high rise building is fleshed out and expanded upon in the accompanying works. Also seen […]

Studio Visits: Tomokazu Matsuyama – “The Standard Rendez-vous” @ Zidoun & Bossuyt

AM recently stopped by the new studio space of Tomokazu “Matsu” Matsuyama (interviewed). The Brooklyn-based artist was busy getting ready for his solo exhibition at Luxembourg’s Zidoun & Bossuyt that opened yesterday. It was great to see Matsu focusing more on larger paintings and also the return of his abstract “sundance” style that we’ve come to love. The exhibition runs from October 3rd until November 9th, so stop by if you’re in the area. Discuss Matsu here.

This large show took over all three spaces in LeVine’s gallery and featured canvased works and a golden sculpture of his interpretation of Michelangelo’s David. Discuss Blek Le Rat here.
