Openings: Momo in Grottaglie, Italy

Last weekeend in Grottaglie, Italy in the ceramic district, the geometrically inclined Momo opened up a solo show. Put on by the people behind the annual Fame Festival, the exhibition featured pieces that were very similar to the abstract murals that the street muralist has been known for. His use of color and the balanced composition bely a fine hand behind each work. Chet Zar – “Ego Death” Kickstarter

It sounds like  Chet Zar (interviewed) has big plans for his next show which will be entitled Ego Death. By setting up a kickstarter, the Los Angeles-based painter of monsters hopes to put on an exhibition like an elaborate funeral. Showing: Jen Stark – “Vortextural” @ Cooper Cole

Earlier this month, we brought you shots from the studio of Jen Stark as she prepped works for her current show at Cooper Cole in Toronto. Vortextural continues her continued exploration of papercut sculptures as she brings novel new shapes and forms to her oeuvre with an accompanying refining of her craftsmanship. Openings: Sylvia Ji – “Interwoven” @ FFDG

San Francisco native and now Los Angeles-based painter, Sylvia Ji, opened her solo show Interwoven at Fecal Face Dot Gallery last Friday evening. The show featured new paintings on wood that feature traditional patterns interwoven with The Day of the Dead motifs as well as expanding on her work with the female form incorporating similar elements. Preview: MOMO show in Grottaglie, Italy

Tonight in Grottaglie, Italy, Momo will be putting on a new solo exhibition with the people behind the annual Fame Festival. After tooling around the Cuba & Jamaica, painting in the streets with his geometrically-inclined imagery, he will be returning to Southern Italy with some new pieces inspired by his travels. The festivities start at 7 pm at Bottega Papocchia in the Quartiere Delle Ceramiche. Discuss Momo here.

Showing: Eine – “Innocence” @ CHG Circa

This week will be the final days left for fans in Los Angeles of Eine to check out his solo show at CHG Circa. Entitled Innocence, the body of work assembled from the London-based letter specialist features the alphabet that has made him famous mixed in with some imagery that looks to be dealing with ideas of censorship and the ever growing prevalence of CCTV monitoring.
