Streets: Walk & Talk Festival (Part III) – Mark Jenkins and Sandra Fernandez

After sharing with you works from Vhils and Liqen for this year’s Walk & Talk Festival, we turn our attention to the contributions of Mark Jenkins (interviewed) and Sandra Fernandez. The two artists decided to create some whimsical tape sculptures “riding” down to the ocean for the annual event held on the Archipelago of the Azores in Portugal. Upcoming: Linnea Strid – “Washed Up And Left Behind” @ Galleri Diana

After a joint show with Nathan DeYoung last year in Los Angeles, Linnea Strid will be opening her own solo show on September 1st in her home country. Washed Up And Left Behind, held at Galleri Diana, will feature the Swedish painter’s amazing hyper-realistic work. Upcoming: Marco Mazzoni @ Roq La Rue

Coming up in October, artist Marco Mazzoni will be presenting a new body of work at the Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle. The solo show will feature his surreal nature-infused portraits all rendered exquisitely in his signature use of color pencils like the piece in progress seen above. Streets: Aryz (Copenhagen)

Despite the difficulties in painting over brick, Spanish street artist Aryz has finished a beautiful new mural in Copenhagen for the Galore Festival. As you can see from the photo above, this new piece is right next to the tower that ROA painted at last year’s event. Upcoming: Luke Chueh – “I Am Your Plaything” @ Rotofugi

As history suggests, there is a good chance that any artist who has made a name for themselves in the art toy game will eventually head to Chicago for a showing at Rotofugi. Luke Chueh (interviewed) is no different as he will be opening a solo, I Am Your Plaything, at the toy boutique and gallery on September 7th. Upcoming: José & Rey Parlá – “U.T.O.P.I.A.” @ colette

On September 3rd, the Parlá Brothers (José & Rey) will be presenting a new show in Paris at colette entitled U.T.O.P.I.A. The Brooklyn-based artists will be presenting a collaborative effort with José’s specialty being drawing and painting, while Rey is known for his photographs. It will be interesting to see how they plan to fuse their two artistic repertoires in this new body of work. Discuss José Parlá here.

Releases: Tim Biskup – “Doom Loop #19” Print

For Tim Biskup (featured) fans out there, he recently released a new print entitled Doom Loop #19 on his webstore. The image featuring his distinctive refractive style is taken from a painting for his upcoming solo show in Milan at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea opening on September 20th. Published in assosiation with Art & Council, the print comes in a signed & numbered edition of 20, is sized at 40 x 30″ and costs $500. Upcoming: Tauba Auerbach for “Field Conditions” @ SFMOMA

Starting on September 1st, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) will be presenting an exhibition that “bends and blurs the boundaries between conceptual art and theoretical architecture, using the notion of the “field” to frame an investigation into the construction, representation, and experience of space.” Entitled Field Conditions, the showing features work from both contemporary artists and practicing architects, including Tauba Auerbach, Daniel Libeskind, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Sol LeWitt, Lebbeus Woods, and more. Update: Space//Form Group Exhibition @ Breeze Block Gallery

One of the most interesting things about curating a group exhibition of over 100 artists is getting to see behind the scenes as the artists develop their work for the show (Chloe Early seen above).
