Previews: David Ellis – “True Value” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Opening tonight at the Joshua Liner Gallery is True Value, Barnstormer David Ellis‘ first solo exhibition with the gallery. The multi-talented Ellis will be showing an exciting and varied collection of new and recent work, including paintings, videos and his 2011 Pulse Prize-winning kinetic sound sculpture True Value (Paint Fukette). Last Saturday, Shooting Gallery opened the doors to Parisian street stencil artist, C215’s latest solo show, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes (previewed). The show is inspired by cigarette iconography and advertisements that lie and typically depict affluent people enjoying a smoke in order to sell their products to the common folk and working class. Interviews: MODE 2 – “Offerings” @ Lucas Carrieri Gallery

KRINK @ Loft in Space

Openings: “Attack of the Space Waffles” @ Outsiders

Space Invader is back to London for a solo show at the Outsiders and what a better way to celebrate December with an Attack of Space Waffles? Showcasing a series of brand new mosaic alias’ and some other goodies like stickers and limited editions. The basement features an ‘Invaded Disco Ball’, and a 20 minute documentary following Invader throughout his street missions, and also a ‘Space Waffle Machine‘ dispensing hot waffles throughout the exhibition to the delight of the gallery’s Christmas visitors. ‘Tis the season to be invaded… More pics after the jump…

On Friday night, AM attended Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth where KAWS unveiled his latest show in the Lone Star state. The exhibition entitled Focus:KAWS is a mix of color and monotone works from the Brooklyn based artist including a previous series of tondos which made its way from this year’s Armory.
