During this past weekend, the Kopeikin Gallery hosted a show which featured music artist and electronic pioneer Moby. The event was actually a book signing also that displayed a collection of the artist’s photography taken during his travels and concerts around the world. Currently on view at the Chatsworth House grounds in the UK through October 31st is the annual Sotheby’s Beyond Limits sculpture exhibition. Included in this year’s showing are two new works from Damien Hirst entitled Legend and Myth, which are his dissected portrayals of a winged horse and a unicorn. Dorothy Circus definitely picked the right artist for their 5th anniversary show in Joe Sorren (featured). The Flagstaff-based artist will be present five new luminous paintings collectively entitled In A Garden Where, with the public opening set for October 8th in Rome. On Thursday, September 22nd, David Shrigley will be at WORD Bookstore in Brooklyn, NY to celebrate the launch of WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? The evening will include a talk, book signing and sharpie tattoos by the Glasgow-based artist. This past Saturday, LeBasse Projects in Culver City debuted Yoskay Yamamoto’s (interviewed) new solo exhibition. Entitled Picking Up Where We Left Off, this most recent work by the L.A.-based artist continues to show a great sense of artistry that he’s been building upon during the last few years. The MTV Staying Alive Foundation will be holding a benefit art auction and exhibition entitled RE:DEFINE to mark the 30th anniversary of the discovery of the AIDS virus. We’ve already shown you the walls that Blu and Ethos painted for the CityLeaks Festival in Germany, but it looks like it’s time for a summary of some of the rest of the participants. As we have become accustomed to, street artists Faith47 and DAL worked on murals with religious overtones and frenetic energy respectively. Belgium-based ROA brought his new skinned animal concepts from indoors to outdoors. Just several hours ago, the Honor Fraser gallery finally unveiled the latest works by New York-based artist KAWS. This show, Hold The Line, marks his second return to the gallery (see 2009) and the artwork on display was more than enough to warrant the attention and interest this show had been garnering ever since it was first announced.
