Right after we hung out with Molly Crabapple atÂ Baby Tattooville, she jetted her way down to the southern hemisphere to attend the Pixel Show in Sao Paulo, Brazil (Oct 10th-11th). Herakut Live Painting in Berlin

As most people who have seen it before can attest, live painting is definitely up there as one of the most fascinating experiences for art fans and collectors. Take a look at all the different layers and intricacies (after the jump) as Herakut (interviewed) gradually built up the layers of the painting that was donated to the Berliner Charité, a hospital. Baby Tattooville‘s Secret Society was taken into Travis Louie‘s gorgeously illustrated Victorian and Edwardian world of human oddities and mythical beings with “strange grooming habits” for one weekend. What was even better was that lucky attendees this year were able to take home the experience with a original portrait by the man himself. One of the most influential architects of our time, Frank O. Gehry, is currently showing in Italy at theÂ Triennale Di Milano Design Museum. The exhibition “Since 1997” focuses on the the time period following his famous design of Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao in 1997 that makes his structures some of the most recognizable in the world. One of the shows we are looking forward to this weekend opens tonight at the Joshua Liner Gallery.Â Ryan McLennan’s show in New York will be entitled “The Strain of Inheritance” and deals with ideas of survival in bleak environments as well as the cycle of life an death (a mix of skeletal remains, skulls, dead trees, topiary growths, thriving animals).Â Also apparent in his imagery are the complex social interactions among the wildlife and how their fates are all bound together. NYC street artist Gaia, along with Angry Woebots, Deseo, Dia, Scribe and Mr. Jago will be featured in “Re-up”, a new group show opening tonight at Gallery 1988SF.Â Gaia was kind enough to send us some process pictures of the woodblock and screenprints that he’ll be exhibiting. “Rhetorics of Peace” (featured above) is one of four animal prints that consist of Gaia’s contribution. Brendan Monroe returns to Los Angeles this weekend after recently moving to Sweden. The word is there will be a huge wall installation described as a portable mural and another installation featuring an array of hanging wood sculptures. Joe Ledbetter kicked off his “Amalgamation Tour” last week at the London Miles Gallery.Â During this five city European event, Joe will be showing at five different galleries in London, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, and Istanbul (details here).Â For his UK fans, he brought a mostly new body of work which encompassed paintings, drawings, prints, and various art products – including the release of the European variant of his new Terror and Magnus toy.
