AM recently attended the opening for Greg Lamarche’s solo exhibition at the Joshua Liner Gallery. Entitled Timeless, this show brought together numerous elements of Greg’s style of deconstructing and reassembling text and graphics into a new visual language. Currently at the two locations of the Lisson Gallery in London, Anish Kapoor has gathered a comprehensive collection of his recent works for a showing that will run through November 10th. On Saturday night, the Known Gallery in Los Angeles hosted a private release party for Hello Kitty, Hello Art!, a book compiling artwork inspired by Sanrio characters. Last week, Brett Amory’s latest effort, Twenty-Four in San Francisco, was put on display at Sandra Lee Gallery located in San Francisco’s Union Square (see the studio preview here). The show contained 24 paintings, each capturing a moment from a different location from a different hour of the day. After simultaneous showings back in May at Team Gallery locations in New York (covered here & here), Ryan McGinley traveled to Japan for a solo at the Tomio Koyama Gallery. The exhibition entitled Reach Out, I’m Right Here (which recently closed), featured more of McGinley’s luminous photographs featuring his work with models interacting with nature as well as live animals from various sanctuaries, zoos, and rescue establishments across the United States. We recently caught up with New York artist David Ellis as he completed a mobile arts project. The Barnstormer and Pulse prize winner took two white freight trucks and transformed them in wild Ellis fashion. Giving them color and life, Ellis worked all facets of the exterior in the diverse styles we’ve become accustomed to seeing from him. Streets: Barry McGee – Brooklyn (Part II)

We recently gave you a first look at Barry McGee mural that was in progress at Brooklyn’s Mark Morris Dance Group. Now, the mural which incorporates the Bay Area legend’s classic portrait heads and geometric designs has been completed. With the assistance from Colossal Media, the eight story high mural took about a week to finish. Seen from the local streets, this well using Twist’s signature cluster panel paintings was a sight to behold. Check out the details below…. Discuss Barry McGee here.
