Previews: Nick Walker @ Quin Arts

On January 21st (6-9pm), Nick Walker (interviewed) will be opening a solo show at the Quin Hotel in New York. As the hotel’s inaugural artist-in-residence, the British artist already has 15 original pieces for display in their permanent collection. The newest body of work will be sure to put his stencil skills on display as well as bring us along some further adventures with his iconic Vandal. Discuss Nick Walker here.

Streets: El Mac x David Choe (Phoenix)

After collaborated on a series of works in Cambodia last month, El Mac and David Choe met up again in Phoenix recently to work on a new project. The mural at Cobra Arcade Bar featured Miles’ signature ripple-line portraits (this time of his friend Darlene) along with Choe’s loose embellishments surrounding the image. Streets: El Mac (San Diego)

After returning from a trip to Cambodia where he painted a few murals (covered) along with his Igloo Hong brothers, El Mac decided to work on a project a little closer to home. His latest public arts contribution was created over the holidays at UC San Diego, another portrait piece featuring his distinctive ripple effect. Previews: Interesni Kazki – “Sacred Gravitation” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

This Saturday night (January 9th), Interesni Kazki (interviewed) will be opening their solo show at the 529 West 20th Street location of Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Sacred Gravitation, the new body of work will feature both paintings and drawings from the Ukrainian duo that highlight their mystical and Dali-esque imagery, something that makes their street murals distinctive and unique. Streets / Recap: “Ville Musée” (Reunion Island)

Another street art festival was recently held at yet another unusual and very exotic location – an insular region of France located in the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar – Reunion Island. Basel Week Miami ’15 / Streets: Space 52 Project

After a first look last week at the Space 52 Project curated by Tristan Eaton during Basel Week Miami with a new mural from Esao Andrews featuring Bob Dylan, we now have shots of what the rest of the artists did. Each participant painted a musical icon as part of a 240 foot mural in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District including the lead Eaton (Afrika Bambaataa), Askew (Billie Holiday), Stephen Bliss (Debbie Harry), Cyrcle.
