Streets / Upcoming: Sam3 – “Monumental” @ Wunderkammern (Rome)

On October 4th, Wunderkammern will be opening a solo from Spanish silhouette master Sam3 entitled Monumental. The exhibition will mark the beginning of the gallery’s new art project entitled Limitless which will see four other international street artists take turns presenting new bodies of work and public art in Rome. First up is this sweet new wall painted with Sam3’s shadow technique as well as upcoming indoor works featuring ceramics, paper, and canvas works. Streets: Banksy (UK)

A new piece from Banksy has recently popped up on the southeast coast of England as the town of Folkestone prepared for the Folkestone Triennial. Taking place every three years, the public art project was gifted this new piece from the elusive street artist entitled Art Buff featuring an elderly lady admiring a buffed area of graffiti as if it was art on a pedestal. Streets: Conor Harrington / L.I.S.A. Project (New York) – Part I

While in town for his popup show in New York (more on this later), Conor Harrington (interviewed) made sure to leave his mark on the streets for his fans. One of the murals he worked on was for the L.I.S.A. Project on Rivington and Suffolk and featured one of his colonial style characters painted in his combined loose and photorealistic style. Openings: D*Face – “Scars & Stripes” (Los Angeles)

Over the weekend, AM headed out to Los Angeles to check out a solo from D*Face (interviewed) at a popup location in West Hollywood (315 S. Robertson Blvd). Greeted by an installation featuring a giant D*Dog sculpture crushing a police cruiser with full on smoke, fans were hyped up to enter the gallery space to take in a new body work from the British street artist. Phlegm – Market Traders Installation (Sheffield)

After putting together an elaborate installation and mural for the Royal Opera House in London (covered), Phlegm used a similar technique for a project further up north. The site-specific work was created in his home city at the Sheffield Bazaar as part of the Festival of the Mind. Housed in one of the oldest parts of the city, the scene set up shows Phlegm’s characters interacting in an old school marketplace setting. Check out more detail shots below… Photo credit: Ladoza. Streets: Shepard Fairey (Berlin)

Continuing their art related efforts, Urban Nation recently invited Shepard Fairey’s (featured) in for their One Wall Project. Intermixing the text “Make Art Not War,” “Eyes Open Mind Open,” and “Rise Above,” with his familiar imagery, the Los Angeles-based street artist has left a visible mark in the hip Berlin district for the fans of Obey. Streets: Dalek x Instagram (New York)

The geometrically inclined James “Dalek” Marshall (interviewed) recently travelled from his home in North Carolina to paint Instagram’s first ever sponsored public art at the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Working on a double decker container, he covered it in his signature combination of lines, shapes, and colors creating a striking mural that stood out against the New York skyline in the background. Streets: DALeast (New Zealand)

After a successful solo show in NYC recently (covered), and stopping in Portland for a mural project (covered), DALeast made a huge d-tour on his way home to Capetown by stopping in Dunedin, New Zealand. That same coastal town that hosted Phlegm (covered) there a couple of months ago also invited the Chinese-born artist to leave his mark there through the Dunedin Mural Project.
