Upcoming: Saber – “Ugly American” @ The Outsiders (London)

For those in the UK that missed SABER’s (interviewed) show at The Outsiders in Newcastle (covered), tonight is the show has travelled to the London location of the gallery for an opening there. Ugly American features much of the imagery that we have come to enjoy from the Los Angeles-based graffiti artist as well as some special pieces for his fans in England. Discuss Saber here.

Streets: Swoon – Bowery & Houston Mural (Part II)

In the middle of last Fall, Swoon (interviewed) was tapped as the next artist to hit the iconic Bowery & Houston mural location. We caught her working day and night (here) to get her visual language up for New Yorkers to enjoy. Utilizing her well known hand-painted paper cuts and wheatpaste collages, Swoon & her team created a beautiful mural that captured the layers of the city and its urban inhabitants. French graffiti artist Bom.K will be having his first solo show stateside called Confusions at Known Gallery in Los Angeles. Having exhibited with the DMV crew in Spain, Denmark, Australia, UK and following the success of his last solo show in France (covered here), Bom.k is taking the US by storm. Mastering the spray can with an incredible dexterity and intricate details, he depicts a gritty universe with his monstrous yet captivating creatures. Confusions opens on the 11th of January.

Next week in Portland (January 9th), the Breeze Block Gallery will be welcoming in Alex Lukas for a solo show entitled Prints & Photographs; Copies & Concrete. The recently relocated artist will be presenting new works in a wide range of mediums all centered on the tradition of printmaking as a tool for multiples. Showing: ROA – “Paper Trails” @ White Walls (Project Space)

Showing through this Saturday (January 4th) at the White Walls project space in San Francisco is a solo from ROA. Presented in a format seen previously from the Belgium-based street artist, the work was interposed throughout the gallery set up like the workspace of a field biologist full of drawings, tools, and evidence of field research. Of course, the imagery presented featured his signature dissections, anatomical details, and interactive qualities. Discuss ROA here.

Installed with the “intention of not watching over anything,” SpY’s new intervention in Madrid features 150 fake surveillance cameras on the side of a building. The Spanish street artist is known for his appropriation of urban elements to make his message known and this newest Cameras piece is no exception.
