Openings: Ludo – “Destructionis Hostis Vespa” @ White Walls

Last weekend, White Walls in San Francisco hosted the opening for Ludo’s (interviewed) new solo show. Entitled Destructionis Hostis Vespa, the exhibition is named for a creature from the Parisian street artist’s Nature’s Revenge series or works – a cross between a combat airplane and a wasp. Displayed in sculptural form as well as with paintings from multiple angles, blue prints if you will, the entire show was able to present a cohesive feel to it and also gave striking examples of Ludo’s work. Previews: Miss Van & Ciro Schu – “Room For Cream” & “Makumbia” @ Soze Gallery & Time to Shine Gallery

Legendary Barcelona-based artist Miss Van and Brazilian artist Ciro Schu have spent most of the summer traveling all over the globe creating both indoor and public art together. Although their styles don’t seem similar at first glance, Miss Van’s dreamy female portraits go very well with Ciro Schu’s abstract imagery and cubist shapes, and there are many murals from Brazil to USA to the UK that prove this point. The blend of their styles will result in side-by-side solo shows opening in Los Angeles on the 21st of September. Miss Van’s […]

Over the weekend, the White Walls Gallery in San Francisco presented new urban abstractions from Augustine Kofie. Entitled Structurally Sound, the new works continued the Los Angeles-based artist’s post graffiti aesthetic with thoughts of “sound structures and systems of reliability” when creating the paintings. Rounding things out was an installation that highlighted some of the sketches and in-progress ideas that lead up to the exhibition. Photo credit: Joe Russo for Arrested Motion.
