The recent extensive showcase of street art put together by the Wooster Collective for their ten year anniversary exhibition (covered) at Jonathan LeVine Gallery was just the tip of the iceburg. In the streets of Williamsburg & Dumbo, the collective got ahold of some prime wall space for some of the artists involved to work on. Streets: Cleon Peterson (Los Angeles)

Last weekend, Cleon Peterson took on a large scale mural in downtown Los Angeles. Coming off a great summer exhibition across the pond at London’s The Outsiders’ Soho gallery, Cleon kept his acerbic and raw edge as he composed a hard hitting piece featuring his signature “Brinksmen.” Created over the span of two days, the wall was painted with a bloody looking color scheme making it a fresh eye-catcher for the people of LA. On September 5th, the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland will be opening a group exhibition (curated by Sven Davis) with an interesting premise. Each of the 22 invited international artists were asked to bring along a fellow artist to exhibit alongside them – each producing one 16 x 20″ & one 8 x 8″ artwork. Upcoming: Augustine Kofie – “Structurally Sound” @ White Walls

After his first true solo (covered) outside of the United States back in May, Augustine Kofie will be returning Stateside for his next showing. Structurally Sound, opening on September 14th at the White Walls Gallery in San Francisco, will feature post-graffiti abstractions from this member of Graffuturism movement. Brazilian artist Finok aka Raphael Sagarra recently let us have a peek inside his home & studio in Sao Paulo, to have a look at some new paintings he’s been working on recently. Over the weekend, Brazilian artist Nunca finally finished a mural he has been working on all week in the heart of Los Angeles for the TARFEST Music and Art Festival. The massive piece (arranged by Merry Karnowsky Gallery & Launch Gallery) features imagery quite appropriate for the location with a series of paparazzi figures painted in the street artist’s distinctive style. Australian artist duo Dabs Myla, opened their latest solo show on the 17th of August at White Walls Gallery in SF (previewed). With the concept being more of “an intimate installation” than just a show, the artists turned part of a gallery into an immersive experience.
