Right after super storm Sandy rolled through NYC, we brought you an inside look at the famous Bowery & Houston wall as twins How & Nosm worked industriously to make their mark on this landmark mural location. Now, we can bring you some photos of the completed piece which utilized their signature red & gray-scale color palettes. Streets: Anthony Lister (Newcastle)

After sharing Anthony Lister (filmed) work on the streets of London, here are now photos of some walls he painted in Newcastle as he ramps up for his simultaneous exhibitions opening on Friday (November 16th) at the Outsiders in both cities. Unslung Heroes is the title for the new paintings and sculptures as the Aussie street artist gets ready to be the the first to occupy both Outsiders locations since David Choe made his UK debut in 2008. Openings: Kevin Peterson – “Amended” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Last week at the Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City, Kevin Peterson filled the main space (also see Jacub Gagnon’s work in the project room) with his new show entitled Amended. The paintings he chose to put on display featured his signature form of portraiture with children and animals juxtaposed with backgrounds full of graffiti and urban scenery (some of which had a retro feel to them). Rounding out the show was a sculptural piece based on a defaced playground spring toy that was mirrored with an accompanying painting. […]

Streets: Le 4eme MUR 2012 – Recap

After reporting on Escif’s murals for Le 4eme MUR last year (here & here), we now have a recap of the 2012 edition. The festival’s name (translated to “the fourth wall”) is a theater expression that symbolizes a virtual wall between the actor and the public which can apparently also be applied to the work of the street artist and his audience. This year’s lineup includes a return of Escif along with Mr Jago, Vhils (above), Tellas, Ericailcane, and 108. Check out more photos below…

Preview: Miss Van – “Wild At Heart” @ Dorothy Circus

This weekend in Rome, Miss Van will be presenting new works at the Dorothy Circus Gallery collectively entitled Wild At Heart. For her first Italian solo show, the street femme fatale will be offering up various drawings and paintings on canvas, wood, and paper as well as two collaboration pieces with artist Dan Quintana (whom she also collaborated with recently on some public art murals in Los Angeles). This Friday night (November 16th) in Hong Kong, the Above Second Gallery will be opening their LAX / HKG group exhibition (curated by Thinkspace). Featuring a strong lineup of Amy Sol (above), Audrey Kawasaki, Brian M. Viveros, Dabs Myla, Esao Andrews, Joao Ruas, Linnea Strid, and Yosuke Ueno, the showing will sure to be well received by local fans. Next up on the mural creation project at start-up incubator JuiceTank is Hawaiian native Ian Kuali’i. The NYC-based artist has long served as Doze Green’s assistant and has really come into his own in the past few years.
