Openings: Isaac Cordal @ RAS Gallery

Last Friday, RAS Gallery in Barcelona hosted the opening of Isaac Cordal’s latest collection of works which were presented by SUBEN and curated by Maximiliano Ruiz. Cordal’s outdoor sculptural interventions, which often times are political in nature, made the transition to the gallery setting with pieces arrayed on a series of shelves and with floor installations. Also on display were some photos of his street works featuring his cement characters in various locations he has visited. You can seen all the work here, but also […]

Videos: Jeff Soto x Chevy Sonic

Just a couple days ago, we shared with you photos that Jeff Soto (interviewed) sent us from his trip to Richmond, Virginia for the RVA Street Art Festival. Earlier this year though, Jeff had traveled up to San Francisco for a project with Chevy that had been kept under wraps until now. Take a look at the mini-documentary above as the Riverside-based artist “collaborates” with a robotic art car on a mural as well as discusses some of his thoughts behind the project. Discuss Jeff Soto here.

Streets: Olek – Katowice Street Art Festival (Poland)

The last we saw of the Polish-born Olek, she was filling a gallery in New York (covered) with an immersive installation utilizing balloons. It looks like she has decided to return to using her signature yarn for her part in the Katowice Street Art Festival (April 20 – 29) in her hometown which will also feature work from Mark Jenkins, Mentalgassi, Tellas, ROA, Hyuro, Moneyless, Escif, M-City and others. Coincidentally, she will also be celebrating her 10th year of making art which she is doing […]

Releases: REVOK – “Sacrilege” Print

It look like 1xRUN has great new series of prints planned that go towards funding The Detroit Beautification Project (also supported by Montana Cans and The Seventh Letter) which will bring over a dozen of the world’s premier graffiti artists into the city for a series of murals in the neighborhoods that need them the most. First up is this print from REVOK entitled Sacrilege (available here) which features a piece he created inside a demolished church back in 2009 on his first visit to […]

Streets: M-City (Germany)

The Polish street artist known as M-City recently left his mark in the German city of Neuss for Fest-architektur. While he is known for his industrial, mechanical, and architectural inspired imagery, this newest mural features the addition of some aquatic elements making for an interesting juxtaposition. A closer look after the jump…

Teaser: Tom French & Rone – “Don’t Look Back” @ Zero Cool

Next week Thursday, April 26th, the Zero Cool Gallery will be hosting a joint exhibition by Tom French (featured) and Rone entitled Don’t Look Back. Last we heard, French’s studio was in Newcastle so this will be local for him. It looks like he will be including some of those fantastic skull pieces that play on perspective in this showing while Australian street artist Rone will be contributing some of his stylized portraits. A look from Rone and the showcard after the jump…

After a successful showing in Los Angeles, along with performances based on their imagery from the Lucent Dossier crew (covered), artistic duo Herakut moves up the coast for a followup showing at 941 Geary. Opening on April 21st, Loving the Exiled will be focusing in on characters that have fallen from grace – “the abandoned child that first cries of fear and then of rage, flocks of scapegoats, a choir of arch enemies, the outlawed, the out- numbered, the ones that know they are very […]

Streets: Blu (Morocco)

We haven’t heard much recently from Italian street muralist Blu since his series of works in Buenos Aires earlier this year (here, here & here), but with his penchant for traveling and big walls, you know it was only a matter of time before his distinct imagery showed up somewhere in the world. This newest piece has been completed in Morocco near the border fences that are the separation barriers between the North Africa country and the Spanish city of Melilla. As this area is has been the site […]

Openings: “This Side of Paradise” @ Andrew Freedman House

What do you with a historic welfare housing complex (for the formerly rich) in the Bronx? Why not invite artists to come in and redo the rooms? That’s exactly what No Longer Empty did with the help and curation by Keith Schweitzer. In a project called This Side of Paradise, they invited artists such as Daze, Crash, How & Nosm, Cheryl Pope, Cope2 and many more to work on this landmark building and to create site specific interactive works that reflect the ups and downs of […]
