Streets: COPE2 (Copenhagen)

Copenhagen has been a pretty popular destination for international artists recently. After only recently been gifted multiple murals from Shepard Fairey’s (featured), who was in town for his solo show (covered), renowned graffiti king COPE2 arrived to paint his famous “bubble” tags on an adjacent wall next to one of Shep’s pieces. The South Bronx wildstyle legend is in town for his own exhibition at Halvandet (more on the opening later). More views of the mural thanks to Henrik Haven after the jump…

This Friday night (August 12th) at the C.A.V.E. Gallery in Venice (California), Brooklyn Street Art in collaboration with Thinkspace, will be presenting Street Art Saved My Life: 39 New York Stories. Congratulations to contributing photographer Brandon Shigeta as his ARTCUBE installation for Little Tokyo Design Week (LTDW) was a smashing success. In fact, Brandon’s concept was chosen as the winner of this year’s Golden Astro Boy award award. AM recently caught the opening of a very unique show entitled Olson Olson Recine & Ass at New York’s Nyehaus. Sounds kinda like a law firm right? Well, that’s the point as this group show was titled by a father/son duo Steve & Alex Olson. The central theme of exhibition was the wheel, so whether it was riding a skateboard or motorcycle, the artists Phil Frost, Curtis Kulig, Yaniv Evan, Bob Recine and the previously mentioned duo have always been rolling in perpetual motion. A little while back, we brought you some photos from the Hennessy x KAWS bottle release party. In the video above, the Brooklyn based artist discusses the project on camera, but more importantly, the footage allows viewers to catch a glimpse of more of his recent work. As most of our regulars know, we have been following Shepard Fairey’s (featured) excursion into Copenhagen for a series of murals (part 1, part 2, and part 3) leading up to his showing at V1 Gallery. Known for his ability to modify urban structures to resemble hyper-realistic miniature buildings, Berlin-based artist EVOL recently took his unique artform up a notch. Square Enix and the Wooster Street Social Club presented a mini charity exhibition recently centered around the video game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Artists such as Estevan Oriol, Sam Flores, Patrick Martinez and Jeremy Fish created game themed posters for the event, each with a small edition of 20 with proceeds benefiting art education.
