Streets: COPE2 (Copenhagen)

Copenhagen has been a pretty popular destination for international artists recently. After only recently been gifted multiple murals from Shepard Fairey’s (featured), who was in town for his solo show (covered), renowned graffiti king COPE2 arrived to paint his famous “bubble” tags on an adjacent wall next to one of Shep’s pieces. The South Bronx wildstyle legend is in town for his own exhibition at Halvandet (more on the opening later). More views of the mural thanks to Henrik Haven after the jump…

Streets: Anthony Lister Murals (Los Angeles) Part I

Anthony Lister (interviewed) made unbelievably good use of his time when he was in Los Angeles recently for a show at HVW8 getting up all around town. With no less than eight different murals accounted for, we’ll be splitting them up into two articles to make them easier for fans to digest. Starting things off will be the piece he did in Downtown LA (Setup by L.A. Free Walls & Brooklyn Street Art) seen above and then we will move on to the HVW8 gallery […]

Openings / Video – Brandon Shigeta – “ARTCUBE” @ Little Tokyo Design Week

Congratulations to contributing photographer Brandon Shigeta as his ARTCUBE installation for Little Tokyo Design Week (LTDW) was a smashing success. In fact, Brandon’s concept was chosen as the winner of this year’s Golden Astro Boy award award. This is what Jeffrey Deitch had to say – “There were a few reasons why I thought Brandon’s exhibit was the strongest. It wasn’t a piece that would have typically been found in a museum or gallery. He really conceived it for the container, and it worked well in that context. It also […]

Openings: Olson Olson Recine & Ass @ Nyehaus

AM recently caught the opening of a very unique show entitled Olson Olson Recine & Ass at New York’s Nyehaus. Sounds kinda like a law firm right? Well, that’s the point as this group show was titled by a father/son duo Steve & Alex Olson. The central theme of exhibition was the wheel, so whether it was riding a skateboard or motorcycle, the artists Phil Frost, Curtis Kulig, Yaniv Evan, Bob Recine and the previously mentioned duo have always been rolling in perpetual motion. Another cool […]

Video: KAWS x Hennessy Studio Visit

A little while back, we brought you some photos from the Hennessy x KAWS bottle release party. In the video above, the Brooklyn based artist discusses the project on camera, but more importantly, the footage allows viewers to catch a glimpse of more of his recent work. He appears to be going with bold color schemes, some of which we showed you here, for his upcoming show in September at Honor Fraser. Via Slamxhype. Discuss KAWS here.

Opening & Afterparty: Shepard Fairey – “Your Ad Here” @ V1 Gallery

As most of our regulars know, we have been following Shepard Fairey’s (featured) excursion into Copenhagen for a series of murals (part 1, part 2, and part 3) leading up to his showing at V1 Gallery. Well, the Your Ad Here finally opened Friday night and it looks like Mr. Obey packed heavy bags for his trip to Denmark as there was an abundance of quality work to be enjoyed by the local fans. Local AM photographer Henrik Haven was on site to capture the opening […]

Streets: Evol (Germany)

Known for his ability to modify urban structures to resemble hyper-realistic miniature buildings, Berlin-based artist EVOL recently took his unique artform up a notch. As one of the participants of the art component of the MS Dockville Music Festival, what he had to work with was in his words “the endless meadow, trees and blue sky, not exactly what I play with usually.”  What he decided to do next was pretty amazing. He “decided to cut open the idyll, and pretend there is no endless meadow, but […]

Openings: Square Enix – “Deux Ex: Human Revolution” @ Wooster St. Social Club

Square Enix and the Wooster Street Social Club presented a mini charity exhibition recently centered around the video game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Artists such as Estevan Oriol, Sam Flores, Patrick Martinez and Jeremy Fish created game themed posters for the event, each with a small edition of 20 with proceeds benefiting art education. The party of course was a blast as we got to play advance copies of the new Deux Ex software on both XBOX & PS3 as we got our Dave & […]

Streets: Shepard Fairey (Copenhagen) Part III

Here are some more photos of our four part series as Shepard Fairey (featured) continued to assault the streets prior to his show that opened last night in Denmark at the V1 Gallery (more on this soon).  You can refer to part 1 and part 2 of our coverage where you can see the OBEY crew busy the entire week stenciling and wheatpasting on the streets of Copenhagen. More photos taken for us by Henrik Haven after the jump…
