A Look Inside Geoff McFetridge Studio

Geoff McFetridge, who recently showed during at Volta during Art Basel week and also completed a mural at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, looks like he has a nice space to work in. Printed Pages, the print publication of It’s Nice That, recently paid the Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist in his studio. As a followup to his showing last year, Twenty-Four in San Francisco, Brett Amory (featured) brings this conceptual vision to the East Coast. Amory filmed 40 locations throughout the five boroughs of New York, each in a one-hour increment at all hours of the day and night. Ryan Stewart Nault is on the verge of having his first solo exhibition at Portland’s Breeze Block Gallery. AM recently had the chance to visit pop-surrealist painter Hisham Echafaki‘s studio. Using acrylic and oil paint, the London-based artist loves exploring symetry and patterns, as well as depicting animals in a surreal environment, as shown in his kufic and butterflies series. We were fortunate to document some of the painting process of his Anthropomorphic Bowie pieces as he prepared for the upcoming group show The Many Faces of David Bowie at the Opera Gallery London. D*Face (interviewed) is putting the finishing touches to his fast approaching show at Stolenspace this week. New World Disorder will feature a series of all-new work, with an emphasis on consumer and social issues, from the pop culture jammer. Earlier this year, our EU correspondent Henrik Haven headed over to visit Michael Johansson’s studio in Malmø. The Swedish artist was in the midst of preparing for his show Familar Abstractions that just ended at the Vigeland-Museet in Oslo, Norway (more on this soon). Famous for his hued fabricated cube assemblage made from everyday objects, Johansson’s space was understandably organized by careful color coding. Studio Visit: Alex Lukas @ Guerrero Gallery

As an encore to his shows in 2010 and 2011 at the Guerrero Gallery, the Philadelphia-based artist will be opening a new solo at the San Francisco showspace this Saturday (May 11th). Reinterpreting American landscapes with a post-apocalyptic tilt, Lukas’ work imagines a possible desolate future filled with of destruction and violence.
