Showing: Takashi Murakami -“Ensō” @ Kaikai Kiki Gallery

Currently on view through November 21st at the Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Tokyo is a show from Takashi Murakami entitled Ensō. Presented by Galerie Perrotin, the popup exhibition is planned to run concurrently with the Japanese artist’s 500 Arhats at the Mori Art Museum and continues his exploration on themes seen in Zen Buddhism. The Ensō (literally circle) symbolizes emptiness, unity and infinity, and you can see that the motif is used repeatedly in this new body of work. Videos: Pharrell Visits Takashi Murakami

As we mentioned a couple months ago, Takashi Murakami will be unveiling his first solo exhibition in Japan in over 14 years on October 31st. Friend and collaborator Pharrell Williams recently paid a visit to the Japanese artist in his studio as he was prepping for the show at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo entitled The 500 Arhats. As you will see in the footage below, the highlight of the show will definitely be the massive 100 meter long painting. Discuss Takashi Murakami here.

Upcoming: “Takashi Murakami’s Superflat Collection” @ Yokohama Museum of Art

Just like his friend KAWS, fellow artist Takashi Murakami will be putting part of his collection on display – scheduled for early next year at the Yokohama Museum of Art in Japan. His eclectic taste in art will be evident to visitors as works from from Shohaku and Rosanjin to Anselm Kiefer will be shown. Coming up on October 31st, Takashi Murakami will be unveiling his first solo exhibition in Japan in over 14 years. The title The 500 Arhats at the Mori Art Museum references the piece that will be the showstopper, a 100-meter-long painting which was created as a thank you to the nation of Qatar, one of the first to offer assistance after the earthquake and tsunami in 2011 in Japan. Takashi Murakami x Vans Vault Showcase @ Hotel Du Grand Veneur

Over the weekend Hotel Du Grand Veneur in Paris hosted a collaborative showcase between Takashi Murakami and Vans. Coinciding with this season’s Paris Fashion Week, the launch event featured shoes (adult and child), skate decks, surf boards, tees, and related artwork. as well as a roundtable conversation with the esteemed Japanese artist. Releases: Takashi Murakami x Vans Collaboration

On June 27th, Takashi Murakami will be releasing a collaboration he has been working on with Vans. Utilizing his iconic imagery, the set will include six pairs of Vans Classic Slip-Ons, four skate decks, three tees, and three pairs of slip-ons for your little art collectors out there. Previews: Takashi Murakami @ Blum & Poe Popup Gallery (Ibiza)

This June, Blum & Poe will open a pop up gallery on Ibiza, showing exclusive new works by Takashi Murakami. The Japanese artist recently shared these in-progress photos showing his studio staff at Miyoshi Factory preparing the works. Along with new large paintings, a few sculptures will be exhibited, including one that will be placed at the entrance of a newly constructed casino on the island.
