Basel Week Miami ’16 / Openings: Fabien Castanier Gallery Popup Exhibition

The Bogota and Los Angeles-based Fabien Castanier Gallery used Basel Week Miami as an opportunity to show their roster of urban artists to the art-thirsty crowd in Wynwood with a popup exhibition. Displayed in two large spaces in the vibrant neighborhood, the exhibition also served as a teaser of what they will are planning for their upcoming Miami gallery location scheduled to open next year. Tilt – “Panic Room” (Bogota)

Earlier this month, we brought you a look at the collaborative installation from Ludo & Rero in Columbia for the BARCU Arts and Culture Festival. Fans of street art and graffiti will also be pleased to know The House of Urban Art in Bogota curated by Fabien Castanier also featured work from Tilt. Openings: Open Summer Festival in Toulouse (FR)

For the 4th year running (see 2014 here), the Open Summer Festival invited twenty international artists to Toulouse (FR) to the new creative hub Cinquante Cinq / Espace Cobalt. Outside the exhibition space, guests enjoyed live painting sessions with a Graffiti Jam and relaxed with good summer vibes including enjoying a barbecue and music. Recap: Nuart Festival (Part I) – Indoor

Last week, the Nuart Festival in Norway continued its long run of excellence with the 2014 lineup of street artists in town for indoor and outdoor works. Showing: “HYPERGRAPHIA” @ BC GALLERY

The BC Gallery just opened a group exhibition in Berlin called HYPERGRAPHIA dedicated to the power of the letter, curated by Maximiliano Ruiz. Each artist in the international lineup is showing a different angle of graffiti influenced calligraphy, from New York graffiti tags to urban calligraphy. The show which includes HEIKO ZAHLMANN (D), MAX RIPPON (US), SOWAT (F), STOHEAD (D), TILT (F), VINCENT ABADIE HAFEZ (F), OS+FORTES (BR) also includes works on paper from Brazil’s pixação movement.  

Openings: “Wider than a postcard” & olive47 – “bonita bonita” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Breeze Block Gallery opened their huge group show Wider than a postcard (previewed) alongside the first solo show in their new gallery 2 space – olive47’s bonita bonita (featured) a couple of weeks back to a packed Portland crowd. Over 400 individual works went into the postcard show with 200 artists providing postcard sized works.
