Releases: Tomokazu Matsuyama x NSW x Medicom Bearbrick Pack

As hinted in our previous coverage of Tomokazu “Matsu” Matsuyama’s (interviewed) collaboration with Medicom, there is another surprise collaborator in this project: Nike. The unique artwork/pattern designed by Matsu for the Bearbrick project was utilized for a Nike Sportswear package which is coming out this month. This very limited set contains the medicom bearbrick (covered), a slick NSW Sportsman Jacket and a newly designed Nike Tekapo Slide Sandal. Releases: Tomokazu Matsuyama Book

Some of our lucky readers in Japan have already seen this limited edition book about Tomokazu “Matsu” Matsuyams’s (interviewed) career and artwork. The book was initially released regionally in Japan this past January, but now, this amazing book has finally made its way to the United States. The hardcover from Panorama publishing covers the past 5 years of Matsu’s career and is written in duo languages (English/Japanese) by curators from the Andy Warhol Museum, NYU and Tokyo. On February 1st, Midtown gallery Haunch of Venison will play host to an auction event to benefit HiArt!’s Time In children’s art initiative. Teaser: Tomokazu Matsuyama – “In Case You’re Lost” @ Frey Norris

During the winter break, AM dropped by Tomokazu “Matsu” Matsuyama’s (interviewed) studio to check out his progress for his first solo with San Francisco gallery Frey Norris. He’s definitely stepped his game up and this latest evolution of his signature characters, colors and patterns had our eyes glued to the studio walls. Preview: “Further” Group Show @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Tomorrow night, the Joshua Liner Gallery will host “Further,” a group exhibition featuring works by artists Damon Soule, David Choong Lee, MARS-1, Nome Edonna, Oliver Vernon, Robert Hardgrave and Tomokazu Matsuyama. The exhibition coincides with the release of a new book of the same name that brings together the seven artists and their varied takes on contemporary abstraction, mysticism, futurism, and surrealism. Basel Week Miami ’09 – Joshua Liner Gallery @ Scope

One of the booths we were really impressed with during Art Basel Week was Joshua Liner Gallery’s showcase at SCOPE. It was a diverse group reflecting some of his successes this year from represented artists such as Matsu (interviewed), Kris Kuksi, and Evan Hecox.
