Showing in associated POW! WOW! Hawaii through the tomorrow at the Honolulu Museum of Art School is the 4th annual Exploring The New Contemporary Movement group exhibition (see 2016 & 2015 & 2014) curated by Thinkspace. Artists were asked to contribute 12 x 12″ pieces leading to a visually conforming display of works. Yesterday, Apple announced its 28th annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will kick off on June 5 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose. Art lovers who were paying attention would have seen some familiar imagery used for this year’s event – the work of Geoff McFetridge. Tonight in Bilbao, Isaac Cordal opened a show at SC Gallery entitled Giza Komedia (Basque for The Human Comedy). Through Joshua Liner Gallery, Kris Kuksi recently released the first limited edition figure from what will an ongoing series of sculptural editions. Entitled Claudius and produced in a run of 50, each piece shares a central figure but is adorned with unique elements creating something akin to the sculptor’s signature assemblage work. Nicola Verlato (featured) recently reminded his fans of a commercial project he worked on a year ago centered on the incomparable Lionel Messi. The painting for Gatorade’s Don’t Go Down campaign features the superhero-like Argentine soccer player breaking free from a pack of defenders. Spanish artist Escif recently teamed up with Incipit Art to create a unique environmental project to reforest Mount Olivella – BREATH. The idea is to share a huge global consciousness message with the world, written with 5,000 new trees that will be planted on Mount Olivella, rising above the Gulf of Sapri, in Southern Italy. As previously announced, Galería My Name’s Lolita Art in Madrid is currently showing a new solo exhibition by Paco Pomet. Earlier this month, Hashimoto Contemporary opened a solo show from Jeremiah Jenkins entitled Everything Must Go. The new body of work includes sculptural works from the local artist that display his signature wit and novel technique of dismantling an item’s original form and recreating it in a way to make the viewer think.
