Portland based artist Zach Johnsen is busy preparing for his upcoming exhibition entitled The House of Uncommons. The body of work created for the show explores an alternate parliamentary governing system comprised of spirit figures existing outside the periphery of mankind. Each painting depicts a figure within this fantasy system of rules with its own unique title, identity and powers of legislation. Late last night, LA Weekly reported that Jeffrey Deitch will be leaving the LA MOCA at the end of the month. Despite increasing attendance during his reign at the Los Angeles institution and bringing in a fresh vision for the museum, there continue to be financial woes. You may remember street nomad ROA’s successful show at INOPERAbLE back in 2011 (covered). With a schedule that includes traveling more often than not, the in-demand street muralist only recently stopped by his home country for an exhibition (covered), before he headed out to Vienna again for PAN-ROA’S Box. Featuring a signature mix of found objects and interactive paintings of his dissected animal characters, the exhibition is a worthy destination for those in the area through August 31st. Straight off his show in New York (covered), POSE is back on the streets doing what he does best. This time he’s repping The Seventh Letter along with Dabs Myla in Chicago for Pilsen’s Art in Public Places initiative. Cleon Peterson recently brought his highly stylised and violent imagery to London for his first solo exhibition in the UK. There is a War opened at The Outsiders’ Soho gallery space on Thursday July 4th with a selection of works from his Brinksman series as well as his wonderful tableaux street scenes so full of multi-dimensional blood drenched villainy.
