This week’s Art Focus is on Belgian photographer Frieke Janssen. Among her many projects, one in particular is titled simply Smoking Kids, which was inspired after seeing a YouTube video of a chainsmoking Indonesian toddler. After a showing earlier this year in the UK, Brett Amory (featured) returns stateside for a joint showing at the Thinkspace Gallery with Adam Caldwell. Entitled Dirty Laundry, the Oakland-based Amory will be contributing more of his signature hazy snapshot paintings of random moments in time of anonymous people. It looks like Phlegm, like many street artists, is taking advantage of the good weather to get up on as many walls as he can. Not long after a series of Waterways, he now has a couple more to add, this time in Bantry, West Cork (Ireland). Coming up on July 7th, the Thinkspace Gallery will be presenting a new selection of paintings from Andy Kehoe. For Into the Depths, the Pittsburgh-based artist will be exploring a new process in creating his works.
