Preview: Manifest Hope DC

AM brings you a preview from the ever busy set up at the “pop-up” Manifest Hope gallery at the Nation’s capital.  Tomorrow is almost here, and the gallery is set to open at 10 am for all the people who are in town to see the inauguration.  Manifest Hope will be opened during MLK weekend and but will be closed on Tuesday to observe the Presidential inauguration.

Shepard Fairey and Ron English arrived today to meet and greet the numerous press that were in town for the week.  As we’ve previous reported (Setup and Process), the workers are feverishly trying to finish up the final touches on the installations and getting the gallery looking tip top. If you can make it out here, it will totally be worth it becasue the gallery space is phenomenal and the installations are mind boggling!

Inauguration '09' Hope

Inauguration 09 prints

Shepard and Manifest Hope has a special treat for those that are attending the show. Shepard will be releasing a very limited quantity (150) of the “Hope” Obama paster… with one twist… He is signing them with an “09″ in recognition of the Inauguration. So be quick and maybe you’ll get lucky!

As usual… Shepard always does a little treat for AM readers… he signed a few Obama “Progress” Sticker with an ’09′ just for this show. How do you win one? Just post a comment below by Noon on Sunday and we’ll select 2 winners randomly! (Congratulations Brett and Evil Choy who are our winners!)

The show was absolutely amazing today. Great job! There were some awesome pieces in there, and i was able to turn a friend onto Shep.

I found it particularly cool when I was discussing the etch-a-sketch piece with a woman and upon turning around realized that it was Maria Shriver.

  • Jackson

    Why didn’t I go???@?@?@?@

  • Anthony Guinan

Justin… you just past me on the etch a sketch thing… I was right next to Maria Shriver downstairs.

  • Tucker

Add me to the growing list of “Holy crap! Look at that Etch-a-Sketch!” people. I’m just as impressed with the tiny Presidential Seal as I am with the portrait itself. And how the hell did they ship it without making it erase itself in the process?

  • Cuntaloupe

that etch a sketch looks ill. both sheps and choe’s are sick too, wish i would have grabed one of those choe’s when i had the chance. oh well.

  • Eric

An amazing historic moment in American art history…WOW!

  • Justin

am Editor: If you were around her, I was the guy with the two persian girls who ran up to Maria and asked her for a picture.

    Tucker:
The artist removed the sand from the back of the etch-a-sketch upon completion. No sand = no erasing.
