Fresh off a “distorted” reinterpretation of his iconic Companion figure with Robert Lazzarini (covered), KAWS has now teamed up with The Standard for a collaborative project aimed at spicing up the interior lighting of the contemporary art collector’s home. The art-inspired boutique hotel chain, which played host to an intimate book signing with the artist during Basel Week Miami (covered), has been partnering with artists for a while now through their lifestyle product arm, The Standard Culture.

As KAWS describes, “I love The Standard and the different projects they have been doing. When invited to create something I wanted to redesign something basic that could be found in every hotel room in the world so we decided to make a light bulb. I like the low colored glow it gives, similar to a candle”. This unique set is limited to 1,000, including one purple, one red, and one green low-glow bulb each measuring about 4.75″ x 2.25″ and retails for $65. Functional art at it’s finest, so if you’re interested go get them here!
