Showing: Brendan Monroe – “Morphology” @ Heath Ceramics (San Francisco)

Currently, Heath Ceramics in San Francisco has an amazing new set of works on display from Brendan Monroe (interviewed) at their Boiler Room space. Entitled Morphology, the exhibition is a cohesive combination of mostly sculptural works, wall mural, and original pieces. As we expected after our studio visit with the Oakland-based artist at the end of August, his months of hard work pushing the limits to further expand his imagery in the third dimension paid off in a big way. Don’t miss this show if you are in the area before it closes […]

Studio Visits: Brendan Monroe – “Morphology” @ Heath Ceramics (San Francisco)

Last week, AM had the opportunity to visit Heath Ceramics in San Francisco where Brendan Monroe (interviewed) was hard at work in the upstairs workshop on an upcoming show. Opening September 25th in the ceramics studio and store’s Bay Area Boiler Room, Morphology will reveal months of work the Oakland-based artist has put in testing his limits with larger pieces, carefully choosing glazes, and bringing to life (in three dimensions) concepts and elements of his visual language. Judging from what we saw as well as his show at the Los Angeles Heath […]

Upcoming: Brendan Monroe – “Morphology” @ Heath Ceramics (San Francisco)

After a fantastic showing at Heath Ceramics in Los Angeles last year (covered), Brendan Monroe (interviewed) will be next putting new works on display soon at their San Francisco location. Morphology in the Boiler Room will continue the locally-based artist’s collaboration with the manufacturer of artisan pottery, a perfect way for Monroe to bring to life in a new way his organic and science-based imagery. Opening night is planned for September 25th. Discuss Brendan Monroe here.

Openings: “Vitality and Verve” @ Long Beach Museum of Art

Leading up to the opening of the Vitality and Verve: Transforming the Urban Landscape exhibition last night at the Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA), we had the opportunity for a preview look at some the murals being created (shared with you here & here). From what we saw, we were really excited to see the culmination of something historic and what we have never seen to this scale before with you – a museum exhibition featuring epic indoor murals from a strong roster of what is a mix of […]
