Check out this nicely put together video showing Dale Grimshaw getting busy with the work from his upcoming exhibition Semi-Detached opening this Thursday 6th October at Signal Gallery. Dale’s fourth solo show in London will see the artist unleash some of his personal demons, which are expressed in the metaphoric form of his violent father and the troubled upbringing Dale and his family experienced throughout his childhood. Sweet Toof seems to be the unintentional focus for AM this week. Seeing his work on shutters, walls and wheels he certainly has been getting about. Definitely a favourite, was seeing his new piece on Bethnel Green Road with Brooklyn graffiti artist, Smells, a real winner. A nice addition to the trackside was added by Rowdy next to some great rollers by Horror. Dale Grimshaw’s vibrant paintings were on full display last Friday when his new show opened at the Signal Gallery in London. His new series of works, “Arcana”, centered around the characters of a deck of tarot cards such as “The Fool”, “The Eight of Swords” and “Judgement” seen from left to right in the photo above. London artist Dale Grimshaw’s third solo exhibition, “Arcana”, will be showing at the Signal Gallery starting next weekend. For this new body of work, Grimshaw takes inspiration from the imagery of the Tarot, taking his figurative paintings in a new yet still emotive and raw direction. Fans of his mixture of the abstract and realistic work will want to be there for the opening on April 9th. Another preview image after the jump.

A group show that we previewed here a while back, “Represent,” opened a couple weeks ago at Blackall Studios in London. Curated by Matt Small (interviewed), the show featured artists such as Swoon (interviewed), and ELBOW-TOE (interviewed) among others – all who have developed their own approach to portraiture. Once reserved for the rich, these artists use portrait painting to bring focus to social issues that otherwise may go unnoticed.
