Coming up on February 23rd, New York’s Fred Torres Collaborations will unveil the Earth Laughs In Flowers series of photos from David LaChapelle for the first time in the United States. The ten large-scale still life photographs were inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson’s poem Hamatreya in which flowers are a way in which nature expresses its hatred for human ignorance and their desire to control the earth. So, it looks like the new spread for Vanity Fair that we mentioned a while back finally materialized. Taken by David Lachapelle (who just opened a show at PRISM), the photograph features RETNA (featured) in front of his West Hollywood mural (covered) with a little help from photoshop it seems. Marking his second major exhibition in Hong Kong, David La Chapelle revealed a new body of work with de Sarthe Fine Art this past week. Last Tuesday night, Paul Kasmin Gallery hosted the opening for David La Chapelle’s latest body of work “American Jesus.” We’re not sure if it’s the gallery or David’s following, but the space was jam-packed with onlookers gawking at David’s elaborate digitally rendered photos.
