Releases: Jeff Koons x Louis Vuitton Collection

Last week, Jeff Koons revealed his latest high profile project – a collection he designed with Louis Vuitton. Entitled Masters, the collaboration features 51 different pieces including handbags, scarves, key chains and small leather goods, including wallets and laptop sleeves. The concept behind it all was inspired by the American artist’s Gazing Ball series of paintings from 2015 which featured reproductions of various masterpieces adorned with blue reflective spheres. Indeed, parts of famous works like Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Totian’s Cupid, and Rubens’s The Tiger Hunt are the highlight […]

Ben Eine for Louis Vuitton

Continuing their long history of artists collaborations, Louis Vuitton’s latest project features the letters of Ben Eine. In particular, the Frence fashion house has been working on a series of scarves with street and graffiti artists (also see RETNA, Aiko, Os Gemeos) so the UK-based artist’s alphabet musings are just the latest iteration. Adorned with the words “Louis Vuitton” and “Great Adventures,” a reference to a how Eine feels every time he gets off a plane in a new city, the scarf was sold in […]

James Turrell – “Akhob” @ Loius Vuitton City Center (Las Vegas)

James Turrell, who just opened his first exhibition in a New York museum since 1980 over the weekend at the Guggenheim, also has an interesting project in Las Vegas. The American artist, whose work deals with light, color, and space, has created a permanent installation, Akhob, at the Louis Vuitton at City Center, (on the fourth floor which can be seen by appointment only). Reviving a longstanding collaborative relationship with the fashion house, the room floods your retina with high pigment fields of light. Via Hyperallergic.

Videos / Rumor Mill: RETNA x Louis Vuitton

Remember the mural we mentioned in our Overtime article a couple weeks ago that RETNA (featured) painted for Louis Vuitton? Footage has now been released of the MSK-affiliated writer working on facade of the LV Miami Design District store, covering it with his signature urban calligraphy. Even more interesting have been the rumors that RETNA will be collaborating with the fashion house on some apparel after LV imagery was seen in some of his paintings and he was seen sporting a scarf with his markings on […]

Viewpoints / Openings: Richard Hambleton pop-up show @ The Dairy, London

Three weeks ago, AM attended the London preview for the pop-up exhibition Richard Hambleton New York. Upon entering the venue, it wasn’t immediately clear whether we’d arrived at an art show or a fashion show. The heaving crowd and large amount of perfume in the air may have disoriented us slightly; we were left hesitating between taking pictures of the art on the walls and the clothes people were wearing. What’s certain is that the event was glamourous, and it’s been a long time since […]

Hirst x Louis Vuitton

After some angst about getting recognition for his hand-painted art (here & here) as opposed to his “factory” produced pieces, Damien Hirst returns briefly to more commercial endeavors. No stranger to artist collaborations, Louis Vuitton joined up with Hirst to produce what looks to be a new line of luggage with his signature butterflies and effects. Judging from all the compartments, the piece pictured might not be useful for the casual traveller as Hirst’s inspiration was storage for surgical instruments. Take a closer look at […]
