Currently showing at Narwhal Contemporary in Toronto is a three person show entitled View Point Geon featuring the work of Matthew Feyld, Alvaro Ilizarbe, Paul Wackers. For this exhibition, the Canada-based Feyld continues to explore the continued abstraction of his figurative work while Ilizarbe brings Haring-esque patterned wall sculptures from Peru. Openings: “Space//Squared” @ White Walls Gallery

Last month, White Walls Gallery in San Francisco opened a group exhibition entitled Space//Squared. Curated by Sven Davis, the showing was a followup to an event last year in Portland (covered). This time around, participating artists were again asked to contribute artwork in a 10 x 10″ format. Releases: Matthew Feyld Print Editions @ Little Paper Planes

San Francisco-based Little Paper Planes has just released a series of three prints by Canadian artist Matthew Feyld. Coming in at a price of just $35 each and dimensions of 8.5″ x 11″, these prints look like great value in their signed and numbered editions of 50. LPP also just posted an interview with Feyld along with some pictures from his studio (seen above), so check that out too to find out a little more about his creative process. Breeze Block Gallery opened their huge group show Wider than a postcard (previewed) alongside the first solo show in their new gallery 2 space – olive47’s bonita bonita (featured) a couple of weeks back to a packed Portland crowd. Over 400 individual works went into the postcard show with 200 artists providing postcard sized works. The work was hung on the walls in grids of 24 cards, each echoing the aspect ratio of the individual works themselves as each work was 6×4 inches. The variance of work encompassed photography […]

On the back of his Space//Form group exhibition last year (covered), Arrested Motion’s Sven Davis is working with Breeze Block Gallery in Portland again on another huge group event entitled Wider than a postcard. Matthew Feyld’s new book entitled Untitled (197 Drawings) has just been released by Blackdot Publishing, and to accompany the edition, Nowhere Gallery in Montreal hosted an exhibition under the same untitled title featuring many of the works presented within the book. Matthew’s drawings and paintings have been a point of fascination for us at AM for a while now, and we’ve enjoyed watching the evolution of Feyld’s work. Matthew Feyld seems to be a regular on flights between Canada and Sweden of late. AM recently brought you a glimpse of Matthew Feyld’s installation coming together at his two concurrent solo shows in Sweden at Krets and Neon. It was following his period of residency during August and the beginning of this month at the galleries.
