After bringing you some preview images several days ago for what is shaping up to be a great exhibition opening this weekend, Wild At Heart, we can now reveal one of the more anticipated pieces in the show. After showing across the pond last year in London, Evan Hecox will returning to the states for his latest solo at the Joshua Liner Gallery, site of his last New York exhibition in 2009. Dark Island, opening May 24th, will see the SF-based artist continue his mixed media work incorporating text based design elements as well as referencing local visual cues. On June 7th, Kidrobot will be releasing (in-store and online) a new figure from Dutch artist Parra entitled Pierced. The 10-inch vinyl sculpture is inspired by the melodramatic cover art of romance novels and based on imagery from his original silkscreen artwork. The entwined figures which demonstrate the simultaneous pain and pleasure that many experience while in love will set collectors back $150 and will be limited to an edition of 300. Via mashKULTURE.

Dedicated to making his art accessible to all his fans regardless of their economic status, SABER (interviewed) has just released a set of flag lino prints priced affordably on his webstore. Available in red, green, and blue, the 6″ x 8″ editions are limited to 50 each and despite their price ($85), each hand finished. Aaron Horkey fans out there, tomorrow will be your next chance to get ahold of one of his works, albeit a limited edition. His Andrew Bird screenprint will be available at Friday, May 18th at “around” 2pm Central Time at Postersandtoys. Although the attention of KAWS fans is focused on Asia right now as the NY-based artist has landed in Hong Kong in preparation for his solo at Galerie Perrotin on the 15th, they are reminded that he still has a ongoing exhibition at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta (covered). The museum will be releasing today PAPER SMILE, a 25″ x 20″ screenprint in an edition of 100. For those interested and have $1400 to spend, you should contact the museum before it sells out. [...]

At a random time today, Mondo will be releasing a new Avengers poster from Tyler Stout on their website. Coinciding with the opening of the movie that brings together some of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes, the new image features representation of the entire team as well as the villain Loki. It looks like Tiny Showcase has another quality release on their hands. The Collector from Josh Keyes (interviewed) will be available for purchase from now until May 8th with some of the proceeds to benefit International Rhino Foundation. Earlier this week, we heralded the imminent release of James Jean’s (featured) Butterfly collection from his OVM line. It looks like his fans didn’t have to wait long as the entire selection of earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets have been made available as well as a matching scarf. With this continuing foray into fashion, the multi-talented Jean continues to push his artistic boundaries while maintaining the shapes, colors, imagery, and aesthetic to those familiar with his work.
