Last Saturday in New York, Souther Salazar presented a delightful new body of work at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. The show, entitled You Come Too, featured paintings of fantastical worlds, inventive mixed media assemblages, and rich installations centered around ideas of inclusion, sharing adventure, and togetherness which in no small part were inspired by his recent life experiences. This Saturday night at Jonathan LeVine Gallery, Souther Salazar returns almost two years after his last solo there (covered) with a new deeply personal body work entitled You Come Too. Last weekend, Subliminal Projects played host to “Pattern Recognition”, a group exhibition from a great set of artists including Seonna Hong, Nikki McClure, Dalek (interviewed), Richard Colman (interviewed), and Souther Salazar. Particularly eye catching for us were the colorful works of Seonna and Souther although the works of Dalek and Colman seemed to fit the premise of the show a little more closely. Teaser: “Pattern Recognition” @ Subliminal Projects

On November 6th, Subliminal Projects will be opening a new show “Pattern Recognition”. The premise behind the title is that each artist included has in some way produced work that consists of reoccuring events or objects, not just in a literal sense though. Preview: Souther Salazar Installation for Fumetto Festival

Souther Salazar recently put together a pretty dope installation piece for the upcoming Fumetto Festival in Switzerland (with an assist from Monica Choy). As you can see from his other installs for recent shows in New York & Los Angeles, Souther is quite skilled at creating these whimsical mixed media pieces that seem to jump straight out of one of his paintings.
