Paul Barnes brings his unique storytelling to Los Angeles this week in the form of his first LA solo show Happy Valley in Thinkspace’s project room. Barnes’ work features a cast of superbly rendered characters steeped in folklore and narrative, and you should definitely try and check them out in […]

Openings: Thinkspace Five Year Anniversary Show

Last Saturday night marked an important event at Thinkspace Gallery history – their five year anniversary! Drawing from a long list of artists, many whom got their first break at the Silverlake and now recently relocated to Culver City gallery, the walls were filled with great pieces from the contributors who wanted to make sure they paid proper tribute. Amidst the crowded rooms, we spotted KMNDZ (seen above), with his wall mural and mini-show. Take a look at his and all the rest of the […]

Brooklyn chalk artist extraordinaire Ellis G. went to town on Santa Monica Blvd. last night as part of “From the Streets of Brooklyn” (teased and previewed) opening 7pm tonight at Thinkspace. His chalk etchings capture the shadows of everyday street objects and their surrounding environment. Anything that casts a shadow is fair game: bikes, fences, lightposts, and even full city blocks. Ellis G’s former graffiti writing background is apparent in the precise execution of his work. His lines are clean, performed with long, confident pulls. […]
