Openings: Winter Group Show @ White Walls

In addition to Travis Louie’s (interviewed) opening at Shooting Gallery last weekend (covered), the Winter Group Show debuted alongside in the adjoining White Walls gallery.  Featuring some heavy hitters such as Shepard Fairey (featured), the Clayton Brothers (featured), and Anthony Lister (interviewed) the group show also boasts some upcoming and very exciting talent, namely artists like Nas Champas, Mark Warren Jacques (interviewed and pictured above), Aaron Nagel, and Casey Gray.  The Winter Group show will be open, along with Travis Louie’s show, till January 2nd. Basel Week Miami ’09: Nick Walker – Primary Flight Mural

Streets: Os Gemeos Performance

Os Gemeos recently participated in a public performance in downtown São Paulo of “The Stranger” aided by a large balloon of one of their classic figures. The parade performance was done in collaboration with Plasticien Volants, a world-renowned French company which specializes in creating aerial theater with giant inflatable puppets.  Take a look at couple more pics after the jump, but for the full set, check out Lost Art.

Releases: Kehinde Wiley – “The World Stage: Brazil” Hardcover

You may remember when we covered Kehinde Wiley’s show at Roberts & Tilton back in April.  Well, the gallery has now released “The World Stage: Brazil” book, a 22 paintings from when Wiley was in the South American country looking for subjects for his signature portraiture.  Also, be on the lookout for the January issue of Juxtapoz where Wiley scored the cover. Video: Kris Kuksi – “Plague Parade: Opus 2”

On a return trip to take in Kris Kuksi’s show “Beast Anthology” (covered) at Joshua Liner Gallery, we decided to take a quick video of one of the pieces to give you a better perspective of how incredibly detailed his work is. The piece we chose was “Plague Parade: Opus 2,” one of the larger pieces in the show at 42 x 62 x 16 inches. Streets: TrustoCorp in Los Angeles

TrustoCorp, who we last saw in Miami, has just hit the streets of Los Angeles with a batch of seven new hand painted street signs.  With campaigns planned in San Francisco, NC, Miami, Atlanta, Detroit, San Diego and Chicago all within the next few months, keep an eye out for TrustoCorp coming to a town near you. Openings: Chris Berens – “The Only Living Boy in New York” @ Sloan Fine Art

Last week, Amsterdam-based artist Chris Berens made his New York debut with a brilliant solo show at  Sloan Fine Art. Chris has been working hard on this show and came through with 39 detailed pieces to show for his efforts. As mentioned in our previews (here & here), Chris utilizes a mixed technique blending his heritage of studying the “old masters” with his unique brushstrokes on photographic paper to create a dream like effect.
