Showing: Rosson Crow – “Paris, Texas” @ Galerie Nathalie Obadia

You may remember seeing Rosson Crow’s luminous painting for the “Stages” exhibition that we have been covering.  She recently opened up her second solo show in Paris at the Galerie Nathalie Obadia entitled “Paris, Texas.” Utilizing vibrant colors, blurs, and drips, Rosson’s recent work features opulent interiors brought back from recent history infused with playful elements like the Koons balloon sculpture (seen above). The holidays are upon us and the art world is slowing down to take a lil’ break, but there are still a few shows going off this weekend worth your time. Releases/Signing: Jeff Koons – “Hulk Elvis” Book (NYC)

Jeff Koons, who recently opened a solo exhibition in LA at the Gagosian, will be making an appearance at the New York branch for a book signing. The new 138 page publication “Hulk Elvis” features his series of similarly named paintings and is available on the Gagosian webstore. Openings: Sickboy – “Logopop” @ The Rag Factory

UK artist Sickboy opened up his “Logopop” show yesterday in London at The Rag Factory. Along with new paintings and limited edition releases, the Bristol native also had immersive site-specific installations. Although known for his temple icon imagery, Sickboy also explored other aspects of his work with this show that are decidely his own. More images after the jump.

Preview: “A Cry For Help” Benefit Show @ Thinkspace

Opening January 8th as one of the first shows of 2010 will be Thinkspace’s “A Cry For Help.”  The group show features a long list of artists who have produced work bringing attention to different endangered animals.  Twenty percent of the proceeds will go to Born Free USA, a national animal advocacy organization that works toward “ending the suffering of wild animals in captivity, rescuing individual animals in need, protecting wildlife including highly endangered species in their natural habitats, and encouraging compassionate conservation globally.” Take […]

Releases: KAWS 4FT Dissected Companion – Black

For KAWS collectors who follow the elusive and highly coveted 4 foot companion series, (here & here) it’s been a forgone conclusion that the final 4ft black dissected companion would be released. The real question was when? Well, it’s just been confirmed that the final dissected companion (black) of the 4 foot series will be released December 19th at the Original Fake Tokyo flagship store. Basel Week Miami ’09 – Jen Stark @ SCOPE

The AM crew stopped by the SCOPE Fair to take a look at the geometric paper sculptures by Jen Stark during Art Basel Week. The Miami-based artist was showing off her eye-catching pieces of what appear to be precise paper cutouts at the Carol Jazzar Gallery booth. Even after staring at her work for a long while, we still could not really figure out how she was able produce such complex creations. See for yourself, after the jump…
