The London Police are getting set to bring their impeccable linework and imaginative cityscapes to New York on Thursday, November 17th to grace the walls of the Opera Gallery in the heart of Soho. Releases: Jeff Soto Prints

Starting soon, Jeff Soto (interviewed) has a series of prints he will be releasing, all through his online store – Potatostamp. The first will be the popular Snow Owl image (from his show in France), a timed release 12″ x 15″ print on wood on sale starting November 16th (*date was wrong originally so changed it) at noon PST for $55 + shipping. Video: Raymond Pettibon x Red Hot Chilli Peppers – “Monarchy of Roses” Music Video

Two legends of the Los Angeles music and art scene: the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Raymond Pettibon (who is a musician in his own right and the brother of Greg Ginn – the founder of Black Flag) come together in this music video made on occasion of the band’s new record. Directed by Marc Klasfeld, the video features the artist’s highly recognizable drawings. If you’ve ever wondered how Pettibon’s work would look animated, stop imagining and start watching. Now showing at the Allegra LaViola Gallery on Manhattan’s lower east side is a dynamic group show entitled Die Like You Really Mean It. Openings: Augustine Kofie – “Circulatory System” @ White Walls

Saturday evening, White Walls opened its doors to Augustine Kofie’s second solo show at the gallery, Circulatory System (previewed in our studio visit). The new body of work consisted of 30 pieces including small studies, medium and large scale pieces on wood and canvas, as well as a few hand painted multiple prints. This show concentrates on circular shapes in an interconnect system, while consistently maintaining the draftsman-like quality in his signature style. Just over the weekend, the Merry Karnowsky in Los Angeles unveiled a series of portraits from Travis Louie (interviewed) painted in his signature style and amazing detail to reproduce the look of vintage B&W photographs. Continuing to expand his narrative of pets and their owners, Curious Pets featured unlikely pairings and imaginative creatures all with their own backstories written out by the NY-based artist. It looks like Swoon (interviewed) is in London at the moment judging from this piece seen on the streets by the good people at Hooked Blog. The wheatpasted image is modeled after the stunning Thalassa installation she created for the New Orleans Museum of Art back in June and is a marker for her upcoming show at Black Rat Projects next month. Mars-1 opened up his show, Everything Under The Sun (previewed) to a packed house at Fecal Face Dot Gallery’s temporary space in the inner Richmond area of San Francisco Saturday night (the gallery’s usual spot is under renovation due to a fire at a neighboring building). The show included a few large scale paintings, including a tondo continuing his eye boggling Infinite Tapestry series. Streets: Herakut (Los Angeles)

During the past week, the duo known as Herakut were in Los Angeles as part of Wende Museum’s Behind The Wall project (covered). However, the artist collective also took time to do a large scale mural which featured their signature style and character design. The wall, which took two days to complete, sits not too far from the city’s Chinatown area and it continues to show the technique that the artists have perfected during their time together.
