It looks like Kelsey Brookes has been working on a new body of work for Quint Contemporary Art in La Jolla, set to open in November. The upcoming series of paintings, drawing from the San Diego-based artist’s science background, will be inspired by structural diagrams of different neurotransmitters as well as the drugs that mimic them, both designer (i.e. xanex, prozac) and recreational (i.e. mescaline, LSD). And in other news, Brookes has been tapped to create covers for the Red Hot Chili Peppers as they get set to release 18 unheard songs from the sessions that produced their latest album, I’m With You, over the next six months. The RHCP have a history of artist collaborations on cover art if you remember (Damien Hirst). Fans will be able to combine all nine of the 7-inch records released in order to create a larger piece of artwork.
