During Frieze Week, Pace Gallery held the much anticipated opening for Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara. The solo exhibition is Nara’s first with the blue chip gallery since joining its esteemed roster in 2011. Last week, fans of ESPO (featured) in Brussels were treated to a new solo from the New York-based artist when Visual Blues opened up at the Alice Gallery. The new body of work centered around a series of small pieces he paints daily called Metaltations as well as larger versions of those pieces. On June 6th, the Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle will be opening a new group exhibition entitled Otherworld. Currently at Sprüth Magers, George Condo has a selection of new paintings and sculptures on display, his third solo exhibition in Berlin. The series of large-scale works are are the results of his ongoing reference to art history with the focus this time being Abstraction – i.e.: the lines of de Kooning, the forms and colors of Matisse, Tanguy and Klee, the all-over of Pollock, and Picasso. Openings: Richard Colman @ Guerrero Gallery

We last heard from Richard Colman when he showed in Toronto (covered) last year with Andrew Schoultz. This time around, he is showing alongside another talented artist, Alex Lukas (covered), at the Guerrero Gallery in San Francisco. Lukas filled the project room with a selection of paintings and monochromatic works populated by a surreal mix of his hooded figures, nudes, and bears.
