Ukrainian art duo Interesni Kazki are currently in Italy where they are adding the final touches to their newest body of work for the upcoming Inter Arma Silent Musae show with Studio Cromie. The show opens on the 12th of July.
The turbulent situation in their homeland caused the artists to put their works on hold and literally stop creating new art. The strong tension during the revolution and the pre-war surroundings just stopped their creative energy, and forced them to put down their brushes and paint for a while. Therefore the title of the show is a variation of a Latin proverb meaning “In times of war, the muses falls silent”, symbolizing their silence during this unfortunate period.
For this show both AEC and Waone created elaborate, hyper detailed ink on paper illustration, as well as large acrylic on canvas works. With their signature surrealist style and imagery consisting of different traditional and folk elements gathered from their travels, symbols, mythical creatures, their works tell different stories seen only after closer detailed viewing. Along with original works, both artists will release a silkscreen print edition which will be available in black and white, and watercolor hand painted version.
