Streets: WK Interact / New York Mets

New York-based french artist WK Interact recently collaborated on a project with Major League Baseball’s New York Mets and Citibank. Utilizing his signature motion motif, WK takes the star players from the team and reinterprets their competitiveness for their fans in the Big Apple. Up for view both above and below in the ground, look for this artwork along the whole block in Times Square and in the 34th Street subway station. Discuss WK Interact here.

On the 12th of September, Aisho Nanzuka gallery opened Todd Jame’s first solo show in Hong Kong. Afternoon Delight includes 15 new paintings on canvas and several paper pieces, continuing his series of colorful works that parody the images and information from everyday TV and newspapers. Gary Baseman x Coach Spring 2015 Line

After opening and closing a comprehensive retrospective (covered) at the MOCA Taipei, Gary Baseman (interviewed) moved on to revealing his latest project. At the recent Fashion Week New York, Coach unveiled their new Spring 2015 RTW collection which featured the Los Angeles-based artist’s imagery. The line included his signature creatures emblazoned on bags, used on prints and repeating patterns, and even knitted into sweaters. DALeast (interviewed) recently opened his solo The Laten Photon at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York. Taking a step back from creating murals around the world, the Chinese artist spent last year focused more on his studio work, which is clearly noticeable from the pieces presented. Openings: Ian Francis – “Endless Summer” @ Outsiders

Following his exhibition 10,000 Years From Now at Lazarides Rathbone (covered here) back in 2012, the Bristol-based Ian Francis (featured) has returning to London for a solo exhibition Endless Summer at The Outsiders. Blending photorealism with abstract landscapes, the new body of work features a series of same sized intimate studies that encapsulate a collection of multiple narratives and disparate moments in time. The Dutch city of Heerlen in the southernmost province of Limburg recently rounded up their 2nd edition of Heerlen Murals Project. The idea of this ongoing project is to bring life and fresh energy to the streets and the daily life of the city. The Swedish city of Boras recently hosted a street art event between the 4th and 7th of September. Inviting some recognizable names from the street art world, the organizers of the No Limit Boras Festival were aiming to turn the city’s public space into an outdoor exhibition. Following the worldwide trend of inviting street artists to beautify dull urban facades, this event in a way opposes the strict “zero tolerance” policy that’s in effect all around the country. Previews: Aron Wiesenfeld – “Solstice” @ Arcadia Contemporary

Continuing his long collaboration (also see 2011, 2012) with New York’s Arcadia Contemporary, Aron Wiesenfeld will be opening a show soon at their Soho location. Entitled Solstice, the new body of work from the San Deigo-based painter will further gift his fans with paintings filled with his haunting and powerful imagery. Along with the opening on September 18th, Wiesenfeld will also be at the gallery on the 20th to sign his new 120 page monograph – The Well. Discuss Aron Wiesenfeld here.

Last week, the Nuart Festival in Norway continued its long run of excellence with the 2014 lineup of street artists in town for indoor and outdoor works.
