Sam Wolfe Connelly’s second solo show at Roq La Rue opened on March 5th. And Here I Lay features several oil paintings that can be described as haunting with a touch of remorse. Feelings of quiet and loneliness invade film-like locations that could easily be used as crime scene evidence. The exhibition also has a few graphite drawings that add to the narrative. Howard Griffin Gallery Los Angeles opened a solo by Pablo Delgado on March 7th entitled On Their Level. After showing last year at their London gallery (covered), the Mexican artist took a different approach to presenting his peculiar work this time. By changing the point of view and challenging the viewer’s perspective, the exhibition “explores multiple perceptions of society, equality, consumerism and temporality.“ Delgado’s street work usually consists of small installations within existing environments, which strongly affects viewing experience. It looks like the fabrication is finally underway for the Psychic Temple project for interTrend in Long Beach, a collaboration between artist James Jean (interviewed) and architect Brandon Shigeta. The amazing library for the communication company that specializes in helping corporate America to target Asian Americans will feature the imagery of Jean carved into the backs of an integrated series of bookshelves. After constantly traveling around the world, Seth Globepainter is currently staying in Paris and working on his upcoming solo show opening on March 20th with Itinerrance Gallery. The artist used this opportunity to finally take his part in the legendary Le Mur project by creating a fresh mural in his hometown last weekend. Nawer recently opened his successful Tokyo debut at Hidari Zingaro Gallery. Co-curated by Takashi Murakami and Takumi “Kasenyan” Kaseno of the GEISAI executive committee, Colors in Shapeland is a part of KaiKai Kiki’s GEISAI∞Infinity project. For this show, the Polish artist created a whole new body of work consisting of his abstract geo-based pieces. While quite different than other artists on the KaiKai Kiki’s roster, Nawer’s futuristic abstract works obviously resonated with the local collectors as the show completely sold out. A few months after his last solo show in NYC (covered), DALeast (interviewed) went on a two month trip around China, Nepal and India. He timed his travels to arrive in Delhi on time to participate in the local St+Art Project with a fresh mural. The offices of Rock Paper Scissors, a post production company located on the Westside recently had the locally-based RISK work on two walls for them. The building had quite a bit of history associated with it as he and other graffiti artists had painted it 24 years ago when it was owned by Sylvester Stallone.
