Earlier this week, the 18th edition of Art Basel Miami opened at the Miami Beach Convention Center with 269 galleries, offering artwork by mostly blue chip artists from around the world. Drawing visitors in for the beautiful (albeit chillier than usual this year) weather and gathering of friends and associates, an almost unending selection of paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, film, video, and digital art greeted their eyes (and wallets) as they perused the main fair. Highlights for us included this Austin Lee sculpture (seen above) at the Peres Projects booth and a viral duct-taped banana at the Galerie Perrotin booth from Maurizio Cattelan, his first sculpture created for an art fair in 15 years.
