Basel Week Miami ’19 / Recap: Art Basel

Earlier this week, the 18th edition of Art Basel Miami opened at the Miami Beach Convention Center with 269 galleries, offering artwork by mostly blue chip artists from around the world. Drawing visitors in for the beautiful (albeit chillier than usual this year) weather and gathering of friends and associates, an almost unending selection of paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, film, video, and digital art greeted their eyes (and wallets) as they perused the main fair. Currently showing at Monnaie de Paris, Not Afraid of Love is Maurizio Cattelan’s largest exhibition since his retrospective in New York five years ago (covered).
