Kaws – Original Fake x Medicom Bearbrick release @ Invincible Taiwan & Kawsone

It seems that KAWS mania is not only limited to the United States. KAWS’ latest vinyl toy, the Dissected Bearbrick, is a collaboration between Original Fake and Medicom.  This Bearbrick is designed after Kaws’ famous “Dissected Companion.” Like the fans that waited in line to see the opening of Kaws’ latest show at Honor Fraser (covered), fans in Asia (Tokyo & Taiwan) were also willing to camp out for a chance to purchase his rare products.  Last weekend, Taiwan’s premier fashion retailer Invincible sold all three sizes of the Bearbrick to Kaws’ zealous but […]

On the streets: Faile vs. Supreme?

Looks like Faile has been working overtime in the streets of NYC at the expense of Supreme’s Spring ad campaign. Numerous ad posters were altered and remixed across the streets of New York. Faile replaced rocker Lou Reed’s “grill” with their infamous tiger face and also replaced the classic Supreme “box logo” on center of the shirt with the Collective’s catch phrase: “vanity”. Apparently this “remix” is a urban retaliation to Supreme’s annual guerrilla-spam ad campaigns. These campaigns allegedly consists of plastering numerous posters/pasters all […]

On the streets: New Banksy

A crispy new Banksy just popped up in Gillett Square (Hackney, UK). It seems that the recent “hammering” which the urban art market took in this week’s auctions (covered) have clearly not affected Banksy’s approach at all. It goes to show that his meteoric rise in popularity the past few years have not gotten to his head. His unique perspective on our world today are not driven by speculators or gallerists. Whether the art market is up or down, Sir Banksy reminds us that why his works belongs on the streets and not […]

Dr. Sketchy Anti-Art School with Ron English

On Valentine’s Day, Molly Crabapple invited AM to participate in a “life drawing” event called Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School. The guest artist for this session was our friend Ron English. Our first thought was… “There’s going to be a bunch of hardcore artist types sitting with their easels circling a ‘neck-ed’ model. Well, we were wrong…” Dr. Sketchy was anything but… So being the “Anti-Art” school, they hosted the event at a burlesque bar crowded with beautiful people excited to socialize and channel their inner artist. The subject was Ron English’s famous “Cow […]
